RSVP To “Lunch and Learns” with the Pruett Gerontology Center

The Pruett Gerontology Center is hosting a series of lunch time discussions on a variety of topics related to aging. These will feature local experts who can answer any questions you may have. These conversations will be held from 11:30am-1pm on either a Monday or Wednesday through the semester, and lunch will be provided. This semester, they will take place on September 27th, October 27th, and November 15th. If you are interested in any of the following topics, please let us know here.

Entra a la Plaza

September is Hispanic Heritage Month – an opportunity to honor the contributions and influence of Hispanic culture in our society. ACU’s Hispanos Unidos will host events throughout the next several weeks, including Entra a La Plaza, featuring Latin traditions, food, and dance. You are invited to celebrate at Entra a la Plaza this Friday, September 24, with local food trucks, Hispanic treats, live music from a Selena tribute band, and a showing of the 1997 film Selena. The event is 6 p.m. to midnight on the Hunter Welcome Center Patio. Other campus groups such as Sigma Delta Pi and the International Student Association will also have events planned throughout Hispanic Heritage Month.

Annual JCPenney SuitUp Event

The annual JCPenney Suit-Up event is online this year! All faculty, staff, and families are invited to join our students in participating in the event. MISSIONS WEEK IS HAPPENING NOW!

ACU Missions invites you to join the annual Missions Week activities, September 20-25. This year, daily activities will be based in the Quad (in front of the Onsted Science Center), providing the campus an opportunity to share in the display of talent, fun, reflection, coffee, prayer, and community service. Check out the schedule that will vary throughout the week. Please plan to encourage your students to attend, and you are all welcomed to join in and support ACU Missions and the Missions Students Association.

Jazz Hour with Dr. Jose Bowen

The Adams Center will host Dr. Jose Bowen on September 27th for a faculty workshop. Faculty can rsvp for the workshop at rsvp2ac@acu.edu. Please see the Adams Center newsletter for details. In addition to being an author, consultant, and former university president, Dr. Bowen is a professional jazz musician. Dr. Bowen will host an hour of jazz music and conversation open to anyone on campus at 4:00 in the WPAC Recital Hall on September 27th.

Action Needed – Conflict of Interest Disclosure

All full-time and reduced full-time faculty and staff are required to complete a Conflict of Interest Disclosure form on an annual basis.

See the Conflict of Interest Policy (No. 411) to determine what/if any conflict may exist, complete your form and send it to your immediate supervisor.

Supervisors are responsible for ensuring each full-time and reduced full-time faculty and staff employee in their area completes a form. They also need to review the form to determine whether or not a conflict of interest exists.

Supervisors should send the completed forms to the Human Resources office no later than October 1, 2021. Completed forms can be emailed to humanresources@acu.edu.

WACU Fall Membership Dinner

All women from the ACU community are invited to Women for ACU’s fall membership dinner Thursday, Sept. 23. We’ll enjoy a meal together, discuss WACU activities for the fall and get a campus update from Craig Fisher, ACU’s associate vice president for advancement and alumni. Please bring a salad to share. 4th Annual ACU Dove Hunt

Kids Cheer Camp

ACU cheerleaders will conduct a cheer camp for grades K-8 on Sept. 28 from 6-8 p.m. in Gym D at the Money Recreation Center. The registration fee is $40 per participant and includes a T-shirt. Depending on grade and skill level, participants will learn the ACU Field Yell, chants and stunting. They need to wear modest athletic clothing, athletic shoes and have long hair pulled back.
