Meditations and Prayers for the Season of Advent

Dr. Mark Hamilton and Dr. Kelli Gibson have edited volume II of Singing with the Shepherds: Meditations and Prayers for the Season of Advent.  This collection is a collaboration from faculty, students, alumni and friends of the Graduate School of Theology at ACU. Many thanks to Mark and Kelli who have worked to create this this resource for the ACU Community.

Big Country Conversations

Join us Thursday, November 14, from 7-8:15 p.m. in Boone Family Theatre as we launch a new series designed to bring speakers of national significance to Abilene for engaging discussions on global issues. The inaugural Big Country Conversations event features political analysts Paul Begala and Karl Rove, who will offer their unique perspectives on the presidential election and what’s next for the U.S. and Texas. The event is open to the community, general admission tickets are $25 each. Faculty and staff are welcome to use code WILDCAT25 for complimentary admission. One Zoom meeting will be available on Tuesday, Oct. 29, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. for those who cannot attend an in-person meeting. Visit the HR Calendar to join the Zoom meeting. Faculty/Staff Meeting

Plan to join your colleagues for university updates this week on Wednesday, Oct. 30, at noon or 4 p.m. We will meet in person at noon in the Hunter Welcome Center’s McCaleb Conference Center. At 4 p.m., we are piloting a virtual-only option, so faculty and staff who work remotely or are traveling will have the opportunity to participate in the meeting. Remote employees can access the virtual meeting here.

Staff Lunches

Calling all staff! Let’s have lunch together! In an effort to encourage community among staff across departments, let’s meet in the Bean Smart Room monthly and have lunch together. This is a self-pay event this is intended to provide the opportunity for any staffers looking for community to connect. Our first lunch will be Nov. 19 at 12pm. Save the Date – URCI Festival 2025

The ACU Undergraduate Research, Creativity, and Innovation Festival is scheduled for Tuesday, April 15, 2025, in the Hunter Welcome Center. Please mark your calendars and begin encouraging students to think about projects to present at the festival. Homecoming Musical – Disney’s Freaky Friday

Join us for this year’s Homecoming Musical October 17-20, 2024, in Boone Family Theatre. The new musical, Freaky Friday, based on the beloved 1972 novel by Mary Rodgers and the hit Disney films (and developed by Disney Theatrical Productions expressly for licensing to theaters), features a book by Bridget Carpenter – the co-executive producer and writer on the beloved TV hits, Friday Night Lights and Parenthood – and music and lyrics by Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey – the Pulitzer Prize-winning composers of Next to Normal and If/Then. Saunders Center Launch

The Landon Saunders Center for Joy and Human Flourishing will officially launch on July 26, Landon’s birthday, with a campus-wide ice cream party featuring his beloved Ben and Jerry’s Vermont Ice Cream. The event will be held at 2 p.m. in the Hansen Reading Commons of the Brown Library. Come meet Dr. Claire Davidson Frederick, the center’s new director, celebrate Landon’s birthday, and hear more about the center’s plans in the coming year. RSVP here.

Staff Pre-Session, August 7

Staff Pre-Session will be on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the Hunter Welcome Center, followed by lunch in The World Famous Bean. All staff are encouraged to participate in this time together to prepare for the upcoming year and celebrate our peers who receive the John C. Stevens, Unsung Hero and Outstanding Staff Awards. Outstanding Staff Award Nominations

The Senior Leadership Team will select the honorees based on nominations they receive from faculty and staffThe deadline to submit nominations is Tuesday, June 18.
