pisd pictureZack Pruett, principal of Rasor Elementary School in Plano, Texas had a smile as big as Texas on Wednesday, December 4, 2013. Zack, ACU class of 1997 celebrated the news that the school he administers, Rasor Elementary, earned the NFL PLAY 60 Super School award.  Zack is the son of our own Dr. Charlie Pruett and his wife Debbie.

The award arrives with a $10,000 prize from the NFL.  Only 34 schools from across the country achieved the Super School award. Each winning school receives a $10,000 NFL PLAY 60 grant for health and wellness programming or equipment.

Each school also receives a visit from an NFL player. Jason Witten will visit Zack’s school along with representatives of NFL Network affiliates including Bright House, Comcast, COX, Time Warner Cable and Verizon. Alfred Morris (Redskins), Justin Tuck (Giants) and Jason Witten (Cowboys) will be among this year’s NFL player attendees.

The NFL PLAY 60 Super School program inspires students to make healthy choices. Schools entered the NFL PLAY 60 Super School Contest by sharing their commitment to youth health and wellness and eating right at www.NFLRUSH.com. A school in each of the NFL’s 32-team communities plus two at-large schools were selected as winners.

The vision of Plano schools empowers students to be able to adapt to new learning and career opportunities throughout their lives and to collaborate with, and contribute to, the global community. The NFL Play School Contest award affirms this vision.

Congratulations Zack Pruett!
