ACU President Dr. Phil Schubert announced that ACU will continue to be in contact with students from the affected areas from Hurricane Harvey and ACU continues to work to find the best ways to help them.

Please keep in mind the following resources are available to ACU students:

  • The Student Opportunities, Advocacy, and Resources (SOAR) program provides students with the necessary support to make difficult situations more manageable in times of emotional and mental distress, academic distress, loss of housing or financial insecurity. SOAR assists with connecting students with appropriate resources.
  • The ACU Counseling Center can help provide emotional support for students.
  • Residence Life also will be determining if students who live on campus need housing during the Thanksgiving holiday.

There are also a number of ways to give back to those in need. Here are just a few examples:

  • The ACU Alumni Association and the University Relations team have been reaching out to fellow Wildcats and their families who have been affected by the storm. Information is available in the Wildcats Helping Wildcats Facebook group.
  • Global Samaritan Resources, an Abilene-based Christian humanitarian aid organization, is accepting donations to provide direct support. A list of other churches and organizations providing resources is available on ACU’s main Facebook page.
  • ACU’s Halbert Center for Missions and Global Service is in the process of developing service trip opportunities for students to serve alongside local churches in the affected areas. We will provide information when it becomes available.

Also, individual departments and student groups are coming together in amazing ways to help. Thank you!

Let’s continue to lift up in prayer all of those in need right now. Dr. Schubert said, “the road to recovery will not be an easy one, but we serve a faithful God who will see us through.”
