Dementia is a complex disease that causes a variety of challenging symptoms.

Caregivers and patients alike experience frustration and confusion when learning how to deal with this misunderstood disease.

Experiencing every day life situations as a person with dementia will help you learn to empathize with loved ones dealing with this disease and ultimately become a better caregiver. 

What you can expect

You will have the opportunity to experience multiple every day scenarios with different symptoms of dementia using the VR Headset and/or phones prepared with A Walk Through Dementia app.

A time of reflection will also be available through discussion questions with staff or other participants or self-led.

The experience is come and go, but we would appreciate your RSVP to Chandra McFarlen at gero@acu.edu so that we can have enough supplies available. Snacks will also be provided.
