Branding Season

This picture was taken in the heat of branding my grandparents new calves. Each calf is as large as I am and as ruthless and unruly as a child throwing a tantrum. It takes a lot of strength and attention to get the timing right when the animals are in the chute and flip them. My grandparents have been doing this for as long as I can remember. Each year, we travel to their house to help them with branding and fixing all of their new claves, which is about 15- 20 newborns depending on the year.
