Marisa Beard began as the new Director of Educational Technology (Ed Tech) at ACU on June 2 2014. She came from Western Illinois University, where she worked for 20 years in the College of Education and Human Services. She developed online professional development for K-12 educators, worked with COEHS faculty, presented at local, state, and national conference, provided face-to-face workshops for educators, managed various software solutions, taught courses on integrating technology into the classroom, and enjoyed learning how technology can enhance the learning experience. She received her doctorate in Learning Technologies (formerly Educational Technology) from Pepperdine University in April 2014.

Stephen Rektenwald| Assistant Director of Ed Tech
Stephen Rektenwald (‘99) comes to ACU as the Assistant Director of Educational Technology after 18 years with Abilene ISD as a teacher and then coordinator of Abilene ISD’s Instructional Technology department. Stephen graduated from ACU with a Bachelors in Mathematics Education where he met and married his wife Josie (‘99). He has since been blessed with two children. Stephen completed his M.Ed. in Educational Technology Leadership from Lamar University and has presented on technology applications and teaching techniques at state and regional conferences.

Donald Simpson| Ed Tech Specialist
Donald provides high level support and coordination with the EdTech Director and staff for various projects, technologies, training, and workshop sessions. This also includes the management and coordination of all digital content, promotional input, and training involved with Digital Commons @ ACU, as well as technical guidance for Special Collections and Archives as they create, use, and store digital files created from archival analog media. He earned his MS in Learning Technologies from the University of North Texas, MA in Missions from Abilene Christian University, and a BA in Ministry from Lincoln Christian University.
