CONGRATULATIONS to the Winners – ACU Interior Design Majors!
A group of ACU Interior Design majors attended the ASID Student Symposium October 15-16, 2010 in Dallas at the Dallas Decorative Center. The ASID Student Symposium offered over 100 students the opportunity to tour numerous showrooms and the Windspear Opera House at the AT&T Performing Arts Center. Students were able to meet design industry experts and network with one another. During the two-day event, students participated in a Speed Charrette and heard from Keynote Speakers Mr. Michael Thomas, National President of ASID and Cynthia Leibrock, universal design expert and numerous professional guest panelists.
The ACU students were honored with numerous awards during the final session as follows:
English Minter (Senior INTD major) awarded $2000 ASID Student Scholarship Recipient
Jessica Lane (Senior INTD major) Winning Charrette Team – Teams created the design for converting a shipping container into a comfortable and beautiful residence for Haitian Earthquake Refugees. Jessica was rewarded with a book, “Designing in Texas”.
Alex Potess (Senior INTD major) First Place Retail Design for C’est Si Beau Women’s Professional Clothing Store/Noelle Corporate Clothing Line Offices – $250 award and free web hosted portfolio for one year
Haley Buffington (Junior INTD major) First Place in Hospitality Design for Add-a Cone Ice Cream Franchise – $250 award and free web hosted portfolio for one year
Haley Buffington (Junior INTD major) First Place in Product Design for Circles Rug design – $250 award and free web hosted portfolio for one year
Taylor Tucker, Mallory Espinoza, Aubree McClure, English Minter – Second Place in Collaborative Design for the ACU Brown Library Atrium and John and Ruth Stevens Administrative Wing – each winning a complementary student profile posting for one year on the Texas Chapter ASID website.
