Benefits Tip: MRIs & Imaging Services

by   |  07.26.12  |  Benefits

Did you know that MRIs and imaging services can often be cheaper at a freestanding facility, such as Medical Diagnostic Imaging of Abilene (MDI) located at 4349 South Treadaway Blvd.  Freestanding facilities often charge only a fraction of the cost charged by hospitals. For example, a knee MRI administered by MDI would cost  $433.11, whereas this same MRI administered at a hospital could cost $1, 962.79. Hospital radiology centers require round-the-clock staffing and often charge higher fees for their services to offset the costs of their 24/7 operations. Hospitals charge exorbitant fees for high-tech diagnostics, like MRIs, to subsidize other reimbursed services. By using a freestanding facility, patients can save up to 75 percent over having the exact same tests done at a hospital—and there’s no difference in quality.

New Ticketing Policy for ACU Athletics for Faculty & Staff

by   |  07.16.12  |  Events

All ACU faculty and staff should be receiving in their campus mail this month their free all-sports pass for the 2012-13 Wildcat athletics season.

Please take time to read through the following bullet points concerning the usage of your all-sports pass, as well as how you need to go about purchasing passes for your spouse and each dependent.

Thank you,
John Houser
Assistant Director of Athletics

1. All ACU Faculty and Staff will receive a free all-sports pass in the campus mail later this month. This pass is to be used for ACU faculty and staff to gain free admission to all ACU sporting events. All dependents and spouses will be charged to purchase an all sports pass. The prices for spouses or dependents 18 and older are $60 for the season. The prices for children 18 and younger as well as spouses 65 and older are $40 with a buy-one-get-one-free rate. There will no longer be free admission for dependents or spouses of faculty/staff to ACU Athletic events.
2. Because of the increased costs with the rental of Shotwell Stadium, as well as increases in costs to run games, pay officials, and pay staff, ACU athletics has been directed to change policies to help cover some of these costs. The cost of attending every sporting event ACU offers for a faculty or staff family of four is now only $100, less than $1 per event.
3. Your ACU ID card will no longer give you access to any sporting events on campus.  The only way to get into an ACU sporting event on campus is with your all-sports pass. If you lose your all-sports pass it will cost $10 to replace it.
4. If you were hired at ACU or started after July 1, 2012, please contact the ACU ticket office at 674-CATS and we will make sure you are in the system and you receive a free all-sports pass.
5.  If you have any questions, please feel free to call the ACU athletics ticket office at 674-CATS and we will be sure to get back with you as quickly as possible.
6. To order single-game or season tickets or all-sports passes, please visit acusports.com or visit our call center through Extreme Tickets, the company that will be handling all ticket orders for the 2012-13 season. You can order single-game or season tickets by calling 888-695-0888 Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. (central time). For general questions about ticket orders you can call 325-674-CATS Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. To purchase tickets in person, please come to the Moody Coliseum basketball offices between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Benefits Tip-Immunization Vaccines

by   |  07.16.12  |  Events

If you are covered by ACU’s BCBSTX Medical plan, preventive immunizations administered by your physician or pharmacy are covered at 100%. Review the preventive immunization list.

Please note that policy changes have been made by the Texas Department of State Health Services. Children who are covered under a private insurance plan that include vaccination coverage will no longer be eligible for low cost immunizations at public health departments and will be referred to their private physician for immunization services. If your physician does not give immunizations, you can now contact a pharmacy such as Walgreens to see what immunizations they may provide.
