There are three types of contributions that may go into your HSA.  There is the employer contribution ($750 for employee only coverage and $1500 for family coverage), the HCA transition payout (available only to those who had a balance in their HCA at the end of 2013), and your employee contributions.  See below for details on when you can expect these contributions to be deposited to your HSA.

• Employer Contribution:  This contribution was deposited to your HSA on 1/7/14.
• HCA Transition Payout:  If you had HCA funds left at the end of 2013, ACU is doing a transition payout at 40 cents on the dollar.  We are waiting 45 days for claims to finalize for the end of 2013.  Once we have the finalized HCA balances from Blue Cross, we will process the HCA transition payout to be deposited to your HSA on the nonexempt 2/28/14 paycheck and the exempt 2/28/14 paycheck.
• Employee Contributions:  If you chose to contribute to your HSA in 2014 through payroll deductions, these contributions will be deposited to your HSA each payroll, beginning with the 1/15/14 payroll for nonexempt employees and 1/31/14 payroll for exempt employees.

If you would like to change your HSA contribution, see the forms page on the HR website and print the HSA Contribution Change Form, complete it and turn it in to the HR office.

When you visit the doctor & pharmacy there are a few important things you need to know.

At the Doctor:  In general, using your insurance at the doctor will work much in the same way as it did when you had the HCA.  You will present your BCBS ID card and will be told you do not owe anything at the point of service.  You will receive a bill from your doctor’s office and, separately, an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from Blue Cross.  Do NOT pay the bill until you have seen your EOB – the EOB tells you what you owe with insurance and your doctor’s bill may not reflect the Blue Cross discounted rate.  Once you know what you owe with insurance, you can pay your bill.  Depending on how your doctor does billing, you can write in your HSA debit card info on the bill and send it back to your doctor or call your doctor’s office to pay over the phone.  If you have run out of HSA funds or just wish to pay out of pocket, you will pay the bill out of pocket with your personal checking account or credit card information.

At the Pharmacy:  At the pharmacy you will pay at the point of service.  Be sure to show your Blue Cross ID card to ensure that your prescription cost is the Blue Cross discounted rate and to ensure that it tracks towards your deductible.  You can swipe your HSA debit card to pay (be sure to run it as credit to avoid paying a transaction fee), or you will pay out of pocket if you have either run out of HSA funds or if you wish to pay out of pocket.

Once HSA Bank establishes your HSA account, a debit card will be mailed to you.  Once mailed, it should take 5-7 business days to arrive. The time it takes to approve and set up each HSA account varies from person to person. Keep in mind there is a federally regulated process for setting up banking accounts (due to the Patriot Act & other regulations) and the review/approval process is very fast for some and takes longer for others.

It is our understanding from HSA Bank at this time that the latest date you should receive your HSA Debit card by is January 20th, 2014.  Your Welcome Packet/Letter will arrive within a few days of when you receive your debit card.

For security purposes, your HSA debit card will arrive in a plain, unmarked white envelope.  Separately you will receive a welcome packet in the mail that includes a welcome letter with your HSA account number, a fee and interest schedule, a privacy notice and a copy of the deposit account agreement and disclosures for health savings accounts.

If you incur expenses prior to receiving your debit card, you can always reimburse yourself from your HSA once you have set your account up online.

4. Click Pay Stub
5. Click Display
6. Choose Paycheck Date

Under the Employee tab you will also find the following information:

• Time Sheet or Leave Reporting
• Benefits and Deductions
• Tax Forms (W-4, W-2, and their history)
• Leave Balances

Walgreens will be on campus September 26 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. to administer flu vaccines to ACU faculty and staff and their dependents (age 7 and up). All you need to bring is your BCBSTX medical ID card to receive this preventive vaccine at no charge. Tdap and pneumonia vaccines will also be available for qualified individuals.

If you were unable to attend one of the TIAA-CREF presentations regarding the 401(a) and 401(k) plan terminations, you can view a copy of the presentation here.  TIAA-CREF will be back on campus in October for one-on-one sessions.  HR will communicate dates and how to sign up for these session in the coming weeks.

The 2013 Faculty and Staff Pre-Session was held on August 21, 2013.  It was a time to recognize and celebrate the hard work our faculty and staff do every day, and a time to reflect on our Christian heritage.

Pray ACU is a daily prayer guide produced by the Center for Christian Service and Leadership that follows the school calendar. This guide is available to all students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni and ACU friends.
