Policy No. 022 in the Employee Handbook states “Employees will not be permitted to work in the same department with immediate relatives.”  This policy applies to faculty, staff, temporary employees and student employees.  In order for an exception to this policy to be made, division head approval is required. The full policy is available on the human resources website.

If you have remaining funds in your 2012 flexible spending account, you may use your Discovery Benefits Visa Card through 3/15/2013 in order to access the 2012 plan year balance. Your 2012 funds WILL NOT be available from 3/16/2012 forward. As an alternative to using your Discovery Card to access your 2012 balance, you can submit manual claims or online claims through 3/31/2013.

PLEASE NOTE, as of 1/1/2013, all medical and prescription claims filed under the BCBS medical plan must be paid using your HCA funds prior to using any unused 2012 FSA funds or 2013 FSA funds. Dental and vision claims can still be paid for with 2012 and 2013 FSA funds.

The Office of Risk Management has recently partnered with the Office of Human Resources and we are excited to announce the purchase of 32 Automated External Defibrillators (AED).  An (AED) is a portable electronic device that automatically diagnoses potentially life threatening cardiac arrhythmias.  By using simple audio and visual commands, AEDs are designed to be simple to use for the layman.   These AED’s will be installed throughout campus at selected locations.  Training of selected faculty and staff is in progress.  If you or your department would like to become AED, CPR and First Aid certified, please contact the Office of Risk Management (x2363) or rickey.brown@acu.edu for scheduling.

Monday, February 25th-Friday, March 1st Theta Epsilon KDP will host a Scholastic Book Fair in the Philips Education Building Room 116 (the CML). Come shop for yourself, your friends, and family and help raise funds for a literacy event at a local elementary school!

ACU Press will be releasing “Abilene Stories”, a collection of 100 stories over the past several decades, at the February “Museum Matters” event at The Grace Museum this Thursday, February 21st.  The event will begin with a book reading in the Grand Ballroom at 7 p.m. followed by a book signing.
