The Center for International Education is again offering a Friendship Family Program in which Americans take an international student on a social outing once a month. Events can include family dinners in your home, birthday parties, picnic lunches, outings to the mall, baseball games, etc. The purpose of the program is to introduce international students to American culture outside of a university setting and for Abilene families to learn about other cultures. Having just finished its Broadway run, Big Fish is quite a catch for the ACU Theatre, one of the first in the nation to mount a production. Big Fish centers on Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman who lives life to its fullest…and then some! Edward’s incredible, larger-than-life stories thrill everyone around him – most of all, his devoted wife Sandra. But their son Will, about to have a child of his own, is determined to find the truth behind his father’s epic tales. Overflowing with heart, humor, and spectacular stagecraft, Big Fish is an extraordinary new Broadway musical that reminds us why we love going to the theatre – for an experience that’s richer, funnier and BIGGER than life itself.

Business Services would like to invite you to enjoy meals in The World Famous Bean!  To provide a fast and convenient way to purchase meals, Faculty and Staff can now charge meals to their ACU Account.  With a swipe of your Banner ID Card you can charge a meal to your ACU Account.  Meals can also be purchased by using cash, credit/debit or Campus Cash.  By purchasing Campus Cash from The Depot or on line at www.acu.edu/campuscash you will receive a discounted meal price of $5.00 per meal.  By charging your meal to your ACU Account, using cash, debit or credit card your will receive a discounted meal price of $6.50.   We encourage you to bless our students by joining them in The World Famous Bean to share a meal and great conversation!  You can set up a Payroll deduction by completing a payroll deduction form to pay for your charged meals.  The form can be found on the Human Resource website, www.acu.edu/hr.  Contact Lisa Flores in Business Services (lisa.flores@acu.edu) with any questions you have regarding this new option.

Most of the books in the ACU Library are being relocated to movable compact shelving on the first floor of the library. This move will occur August through October and will result in more convenient access to the books, while also opening up more of the library for student study spaces on the first and third floor. At this time, the 900s, fiction, science fiction, and scores are most affected. We apologize for any inconvenience and ask that you seek librarian assistance at the research desk on the main floor, if you can’t easily find what you’re looking for.

ACU’s Campus Activities Board will be showing the movie “Heaven is for Real” in Cullen Auditorium on the ACU campus Friday, Aug. 29, at 8 p.m. The movie is free and open to anyone who wants to attend.
