ACU’s football game against Central Arkansas on Saturday, Nov. 1, has been moved from Shotwell Stadium in Abilene to John Clark Stadium in Plano.

Tickets will be $10 for adults (18 and over) and $5 for students (ages 6-17) with children 5 and under getting into the game free. While no ACU all-sports passes or university-issued IDs (faculty / staff or student) may be used to gain entry into the game, ACU faculty, staff and students can get into the game for $5 if they purchase a ticket by Oct. 24.

Those $5 tickets are on sale now in the north ticket window at Moody Coliseum and will be sold to any ACU faculty or staff member or student who presents a current university-issued ID when attempting to purchase tickets. Kickoff for the game is set for 2 p.m.

Please call Tiffany at the Philharmonic box office at 677-6710, option #2, and mention the “30% off Sponsor discount” when making your purchase. You may also purchase tickets the night of the concert at the box office however, it’s strongly recommended you not wait because lines before the show can be long. On the program: BRAHMS’ Symphony No. 1, FORD’s Stubernic Fantasy, and TSCHAIKOVSKY’s 1812 Overture.

At this point Hendrick and BCBS still have not reached an agreement that would bring Hendrick back in-network. Human Resources is working with ACU’s Benefit Committee and Holmes Murphy (ACU’s broker) to determine our plan of action for 2015. It is ACU’s intention to provide health insurance in which both Hendrick and Abilene Regional would be in-network.

With Mark Lewis’ recent transition to the Dean of Students role, Mark Jackson and David Moses have taken on the role of Directors of Chapel Programs. They work to develop each daily Chapel plan, in collaboration with a Chapel Vision Team consisting of staff, faculty, and students that meets regularly to discuss ideas submitted, refine Chapel processes, and help better communicate Chapel expectations. Dr. Carson Reed, Assistant Professor of Practical Theology will serve as Vice President for Church Relations and Director of the Siburt Institute, reporting to the Provost. Dr. Jaime Goff, Associate Professor and Chair of Marriage and Family Studies, has been appointed Associate Dean of the Graduate School. Jay Goin (’91) has been appointed Executive Director for the Graduate School. This year Dr. Eric Gumm, Registrar, also will serve as Interim Director of General Education, working alongside Dr. Greg Straughn, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. The director/dean structure will function similarly to the department chair/dean structure. Drs. Gumm and Straughn will co-chair the University General Education Council.

Preventive Care Covered at 100 Percent, But What Is Considered Preventive? With Health Reform, many people are now aware that preventive care is covered at 100 percent–meaning there is no out-of-pocket cost to the patient.  But what care is consideredpreventive?  Not all cancer screening is preventive (e.g. lung cancer screening is usually not considered preventive).  Not all routine blood tests are preventive (e.g. thyroid tests are usually not preventive).  Not all ‘screening’ doctors’ office visits are preventive (e.g. total body skin exams by dermatologists are usually not considered preventive).  So what is preventive and who decides? Through a generous donation the ACU Library has purchased the ACLS Humanities E-Book Collection for students, faculty and staff.  There are over 4,300 electronic books available in the collection covering a wide range of topics including biblical studies, literature, and history.  The ACLS Humanities E-Book Collection can be accessed at this link.
