The 4th annual STEM for Girls program took place on Saturday, January 24th. Co-directors and ACU faculty members Sarah Lee and Jennifer Shewmaker recruited 60 middle school girls from around Abilene to participate in hands-on activities in a variety of science and technology fields. This year STEM for Girls took place at ATEMS High School. Several ATEMS teachers participated in the event and were excited to bring middle school girls to their campus. Participants learned to code, drove robots, watched a laser cutter, and assembled a skeleton, among other things.
