23rd Annual Gutenberg Celebration

This year is the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication’s 23rd Annual Gutenberg Celebration. It honors three distinguished JMC alumni each year and kicks off Homecoming weekend. This year, it will take place on Thursday, October 15th at 6:30 p.m. in the Hunter Welcome Center. It is free to for all JMC majors and minors and is a great networking opportunity. Heavy hors d’oeuvres, live music and a photo setup make this event a can’t-miss!

Reception Honoring National Award Winners

Please join the ACU Departments of Engineering & Physics and Political Science in a come and go reception honoring Dr. Donald Isenhower and Dr. Mel Hailey for their national honors received this year.

  • Dr. Isenhower is recognized by the American Physical Society (APS) with the 2015 Prize to A Faculty Member For Research In An Undergraduate Institution.   
  • Dr. Hailey is recognized by the Pre-Law Advisors National Council with the 2015 Dean Gerald Lee Wilson Award for Excellence in Pre-Law Advising.
The reception will be held FridayOctober 16, 2015, from 6-7 p.m., in the foyer of the newly renovated Bennett Gymnasium Engineering Laboratories.

National Cyber Security Awareness

October is National Cyber Security Awareness month. As technology changes, we need to become more and more conscious of the potential cyber threats that exist. We should realize that we are not immune to cyber threats at work or at home. Everyone has become a target.

Homecoming Musical – “Mary Poppins”

Everyone’s favorite practically perfect nanny takes the stage in ACU Theatre’s supercalifragilisticexpialidocious musical adventure! The whole family will love this musical based on the classic Disney film, which features memorable numbers such as “Chim Chim Cher-ee,” “A Spoonful of Sugar” and “Jolly Holiday.” 8 p.m. Oct. 16-17, and 2 p.m. Oct. 18. Tickets can be purchased online at acu.edu/theatre.

Vince Jarrett Homecoming Golf Tournament

Join fellow alumni and friends for the annual Homecoming tournament honoring longtime ACU golf coach Vince Jarrett. Kick off the big weekend with good food, great friends and lots of fun giveaways and prizes. 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, Diamondback Golf Club. Cost: $400/team or $125/person, which includes golf, lunch and ACU gear. Proceeds benefit the Vince Jarrett Endowed Golf Scholarship. Tournament and hole sponsorships also available. Pre-Purchase Your Homecoming Carnival Wristbands

Faculty and staff can pre-purchase the $3 Homecoming Carnival Wristbands all this week in The Alumni Relations suite, Hunter Welcome Center Room 282. The Carnival, 5-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16 by the Beauchamp Bell Tower, will be a fun event for the whole family — who doesn’t love food trucks? And be sure to stick around for JamFest at 7 p.m. in the Mall area!

Free Wildcat for Life T-shirts

We’re giving away free Wildcat for Life T-shirts to alumni on a first-come, first-served basis at the Carnival from 5-7 p.m. Friday! Come by the registration table near the Beauchamp Bell Tower, sign in and receive your shirt! We’ll also, if available, have shirts at the football game at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Shotwell Stadium.

Homecoming Carnival — Offices Close Early

Offices will close at 4 p.m. Friday, Oct 16, to allow faculty and staff to attend the Homecoming Carnival at 5 p.m. by the Beauchamp Bell Tower. Please display appropriate signage at your offices to notify students and visitors in advance. Be sure to take this opportunity to interact with campus visitors as well.
