ACU Computer Auction

ACU’s next computer auction is April 1st, no joke! The auction will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 1st in Hart Auditorium. The computer equipment will be set up and available for viewing on the day of the sale starting at 12 p.m. Bidder registration also starts at 12 p.m. on the day of the auction.

You can find a link to sign up for our mailing list and to our Facebook event, which will have more detail, at acu.edu/auction.

This auction is open to the public. We reserve the right for all ACU employees and students to bid at the sale. All notices and announcements posted the day of the sale supersede previous announcements. A 10% Buyers Premium will be added to the final bid of all items. This auction is being held tax-free pursuant to Texas Tax Code 151.310. Acceptable forms of payment will be cash, check with proper ID, and all major credit cards.

Banner Improvements Coming

Phase 1 of major improvements to administrative Banner are coming soon. The next generation of the Banner platform will significantly improve your ability to use Banner, with Java no longer required once all project phases are completed.  We are offering another information session on Tuesday, February 28th, from 3 to 4 p.m. in the CORE Classroom of the Brown Library.

BSA Black History Month Activities

Join the Black Students’ Association for a Production of Black Community on Friday, Feb. 24th. It will be in Cullen Auditorium, doors open at 6 p.m. and event will start at 7 p.m.  Admission is free, however donations will be accepted.

They are also hosting a Know Your Rights Panel Discussion with ACU PD on Tuesday Feb. 28th at 7-9 p.m. in Hart Auditorium followed by a meet and greet.

Faculty/Staff Meeting with Dr. Schubert and SLT

Please plan to join Dr. Schubert and other members of the Senior Leadership Team to learn about some important campus updates. The faculty/staff meeting will be Wed., Mar. 1, in the McCaleb Conference Center of the Hunter Welcome Center. You can attend from either 12-1 p.m. or 4-5 p.m.

Family First Speaker Series Event – Cancelled

The Family First Speaker Series event “Male and Female Roles in Family: A Complementarian Perspective” with Dr. Claire Smith has been cancelled. Please look for an announcement from The Center for Heritage and Renewal in Spirituality (CHARIS) later this week regarding a seminar and public lecture by Dr. Smith, a New Testament scholar from Australia. The best venue for this topic is as an academic discussion as originally planned by CHARIS. As we move forward with future Family First Speaker Series and events, we look forward to serving the ACU community by promoting resources to build healthy and Christ-centered relationships.

Farewell Reception for Jan Meyer

Please join us as we wish farewell to Jan Meyer, who is getting to fulfill a life-long dream to work in the mountains of New Mexico.  She will begin working at the Glorieta Camps at the end of March.  Please come by the lower level of the Campus Center on Tuesday, March 7 between 2:30-4:00 p.m. to wish her well!

2017 Spring Banquet Benefiting Friends of ACU Library

Please join us for an evening with Jay Moore, Author of “Abilene History in Plain Sight” as he takes us on a captivating journey of pictorial stories about Abilene in the 1950’s and ’60’s.

The evening will benefit the construction of Brown Library’s Reading Commons, a book gallery and centrally-located reading room promoting awareness and enjoyment of new and recommended literature, with inviting spaces for small group and individual use.

2017 Morlan Award Recipient

Leticia Guzman Ingram (1990) has been selected as the 2017 Morlan Award recipient. Leticia was named the 2016 Colorado Teacher of the Year and continues to serve as an English Language Development Coordinator, History and Math Teacher at Basalt High School in the Roaring Fork School District. Leticia will accept the award at the annual Morlan Award Dinner on Thursday, March 23 at 6:30. Tickets are $20.00 and must be reserved in advance. Free Innovation Fridays

The Innovation Foundry is offering sessions, called Innovation Fridays, throughout the semester that will teach about the basics of data, the internet, Adobe Creative Cloud and other information. Sessions will be held at the Innovation Foundry on the top floor of the library. Elise Mitchell Book Signing Opportunity

Elise Mitchell (Smith ’83), dual chief executive officer, Mitchell Communications Group and Dentsu Aegis Public Relations Network, has penned her first book, Leading Through the Turn, and will be on campus this week for a book signing at the campus store. The signing will take place Friday, Feb. 17th at 11:30 a.m.
