Creative U Contests

Join the Innovation Foundry, AT&T Learning Studio, Information Technology, and the Maker Lab for Creative U on November 7 at the library, a day-long event including workshops, presentations and displays containing creative works from the ACU community.  Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to submit contest and exhibition entries with the chance to win prizes – the grand prize is an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil. Submissions are open now for T-shirt designs, bookmark designs, and art, design and creative writing exhibition entries. Submissions are due by October 13, 2017. Convertibles Needed for Homecoming Parade

Homecoming Carnival – Offices Close Early

Offices will close at 4 p.m. Friday, Oct 20, to allow faculty and staff to attend the Homecoming Carnival at 5 p.m. in the Campus Mall area and inside the Student Recreation and Wellness Center. Please display appropriate signage at your offices to notify students and visitors in advance.

October CHARIS Conversation to explore “Orthodoxy”

Join us on Thursday, October 12, 4:00 – 5:30 p.m., at Chapel on the Hill for a discussion of “What Makes Us Orthodox?” Dr. Anton Vrame, a lifetime committed leader of the Greek Orthodox Church, will present his views of the core beliefs, practices, and characteristics that identify an individual or community as “Greek Orthodox.” Then in interaction with the moderator, Dr. Douglas Foster of the ACU Graduate School of Theology, and the full audience, we will explore implications of Dr. Vrame’s presentation for other religious communities, including Churches of Christ. Crowder Concert in Moody

Christian Artist, Crowder, will be performing in Moody Coliseum on Friday, October 6 at 7 p.m. Faculty, staff and students can purchase tickets for only $15 if using cash. Tickets are being sold in the University Events office, HWC 212, through Thursday, 10/5. If you want to use a credit card, you can purchase tickets at the regular price at txaolevents.org

Benefits Tip – Wellness Program

This is the final week of the Healthy Meal, Healthy Me Challenge. The challenge ends September 30, so you still have time to log your healthy recipes and meet the challenge requirement to earn 1 Wellness Credit!

Don’t forget to track your challenge participation:

  • Record your challenge completion on your Wellness Portal at www.gpatpa.com (login and click “Wellness”).  Once you have tracked 15 days for the month, credit will automatically be awarded for this activity.
  • If you are unable to record your challenge online, you may submit the completed paper tracking form to the GPA Wellness Department at wellness@gpatpa.com or fax to (469) 445-3151 BY OCTOBER 15th to receive credit for completion.

Family First Fun Night and Harold’s BBQ

Banner Change Coming This Week

We are disabling access to most General forms in Banner 8 on Thursday, September 28th.  Banner General includes forms with the letter G in the first place of the seven-letter acronym (e.g., GOAMTCH). You must use Banner 9 to access these forms.  You can view more details on the Computing Services blog.

Faculty/Staff Involvement in Ethnos 2017

For more than a decade, the International Students’ Association has hosted ETHNOS, a showcase of international cultures and creativity for the ACU community and the larger Abilene community. Each year in Cullen Auditorium, various acts come together to perform dances, songs, or other forms of cultural and artistic expression from countries all over the world. This year, ISA would like to invite ACU Faculty/Staff to be involved by joining one of the acts with our international students. If you are interested in being a part of this year’s culture show, you may contact Veronica Whitt (vdw09a@acu.edu) for more detailed information. The show date will be Nov. 10th and 11th.

macOS 10.13 High Sierra

Today, September 25th, Apple will launch its latest operating system: macOS 10.13 High Sierra. Until further notice, we advise against installing this update on any ACU computer since it may introduce incompatibilities with campus software. IT is testing this new release to identify potential problems and address them. If you have questions, please contact the Helpdesk at 325-674-4357.
