Does your department/club/organization have an event for alumni this Homecoming that you want publicized? If so, email alumni@acu.edu with the complete event information so it can be added to the Homecoming schedule of events. ACU is hosting two exchange visitor scholars (from Italy and China) and several exchange students (from Japan and Rwanda) this year.  Stop by the Campus Center basement Thursday, September 21st between 4 – 5 p.m. to meet and welcome them to our community.

Halbert Center for Missions and Global Service is collecting information about planned Harvey Relief efforts and those who wish to participate in those efforts. Our hope is that by sharing this information, those who want to help will find a place and a group with which to serve. Carisse Berryhill, Associate Dean for Archives and Collections, will speak at AFTERWORD:  Celebrating the Career of Don Meredith on September 21 at the Harding School of Theology. The past 49 years, Meredith, Librarian at HST, has taught several generations of preachers, missionaries and professors how to do theological research. Berryhill will speak on “One Copy May Descend: The Power of Print in our Heritage” at the special retirement celebration.

Did you know that September is Preventive Health Month?  If you are signed up for ACU’s Wellness Portal through GPA, click on the September Put into Practice link and read more on the “Put a Checkup on Your Checklist” to find out what preventative exams you should be doing based on your age and gender.  There is also an activity credit you can earn related to your preventative exams.  Click on the “September PIP-Get It Done!” link under your activities list on the wellness portal.  You can also find more information regarding what preventative exams the CDC recommends at this link.

Please plan on joining us for a come-and-go health fair in the McCaleb Conference room of the Hunter Welcome Center this Wednesday, September 6th from 10am-1pm.  We will have vendors from all over Abilene here to share information on ways to live a healthier lifestyle.  You will also have the opportunity to win various door prizes, receive a chair massage, try healthy food options, get some free swag, AND earn one credit towards your wellness #2 requirement for next year.  Find more information in the email from HR today or by visiting our FAQ link.
