Apple released the new version of their operating system, macOS 10.14 Mojave on September 24th. Updating to the new version can potentially cause problems ranging from software incompatibility to rendering the computer unusable. If you choose to update, please be aware that there is limited support we can provide until we receive updates to our supported software. We are in the process of testing our software, systems, and services with this update. Once all issues have been identified and resolved, we will begin supporting this update.

Be on the lookout for the new program overview for 2019. You should be receiving an email and information mailed to your preferred address that outlines the program and requirements for 2019.

2017-2018 Program – The window to earn wellness credits for your 2019 insurance premiums closed on September 30, 2018. Activity points can take up to 48 hours to show. If you have questions please contact Jessica Hall at wellness@gpatpa.com or 469.445.3150

2018-2019 Program – Your first on campus opportunity to earn credit for 2020 insurance premiums will be at the Flu Clinic on Tues., Oct. 2 (see below for details). Whether you get your flu shot on campus, at the doctor, or at the pharmacy, it will count for 2020 insurance premiums.

It’s that time of year again! The medical clinic will be holding flu shot clinics around campus Tuesdays and Thursdays during October at the locations listed below. The flu vaccine is FREE for all ACU insured employees, spouses and dependents and $20 if you are not covered by ACU’s insurance. Stop by one of our flu shot clinics this month or drop by the ACU Medical Clinic to get the shot and protect yourself from the flu!

Each clinic will be from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on the dates and locations below:

October 2 – Campus Center
October 4 – Onstead Science Center Lobby
October 9 – Teague Center Lobby
October 11 – Mabee Business Building Dean’s Conference Room
October 16 – Halbert Walling Research Center Lobby
October 23 – Hall of Servants – Bible Building
October 25 – Money Student Recreation and Wellness Center Lobby
October 30 – Flu Fright – Campus Center

Each week through the month of October, Information Technology will share a cyber security awareness tip.  We will also be hosting brown bag cyber security awareness training on Wednesday Oct 10, Tuesday Oct 16, and Wednesday Oct 24.  All three sessions will be held in the Innovation Foundry (Library 3rd floor), and will run from 12 (noon) to 1 p.m.

Credit Card Skimmers: Did you know that “pay at the pump” credit card readers aren’t mandated to upgrade to chip technologies until 2020?. This helps to explain why we’ve seen a number of credit card skimmer reports from local news outlets. You can protect yourself from becoming a victim of credit card skimmers by looking before inserting your card and asking yourself if something seems out of place or broken. Your best option may be to just pay inside, and always keep a close eye on your credit card or bank account.

The Office of the Provost and the Brown Library invite you the ACU Scholars Lab for a Faculty Publication Celebration, Thursday, Oct. 11, 4 – 5 p.m. We will recognize scholarly authorship, illustrations, editorial work, other published contributions, as well as artistic performances and exhibits by the ACU faculty over the past academic year.

At the same time, we will celebrate the grand opening of the library’s new Scholars Lab. The Scholars Lab is a digital scholarship center dedicated to supporting computer-enabled research and scholarly communications in all academic disciplines. These new services will provide more robust support for digital research and publishing among our faculty and students. Remarks will begin at 4:15 p.m., and light refreshments will be served.
