Student Rec & Wellness Center Updates

The Royce and Pam Money Student Recreation and Wellness Center is offering a number of activities this fall including bootcamps, lifeguard classes, bouldering on Monday nights with instructor Michael Wray (except Labor Day), 1x free personal training sessions, group exercise passes, and more. Free Lunch at Family First Speaker Series

Join Family First on September 11th at 11:30 a.m. in the Core Classroom (by the library) for our first fall Speaker Series with David Sessions, Youth Minister at Highland Church of Christ.  David’s talk is on, What Adults Can Do to Help Kids and Teens Follow Christ. Please reserve your lunch spot at familyfirst@acu.edu.  Our Speaker Series runs September-November and January-April each academic year. Look for the full fall series next week.

Scholars Lab Open House

Stop by the Scholars Lab for a come-and-go open house to meet the staff and get a sneak peek at what we’ve got in store for the coming year. We look forward to meeting new staff and faculty and learning about the research they are doing on campus. Light refreshments and door prizes will be available with brief announcements starting at 3:45 p.m. Event will be Tuesday, August 27 from 3:30-5:00 p.m. in the Scholars Lab on the 3rd Floor of the Library.

Missions Interest Meeting

Wall Street Journal – WSJ.com

The ACU Library and College of Business Administration are offering all current students, faculty, and staff complimentary electronic access to the Wall Street Journal and  WSJ.com.  This includes access to all articles and online content on the WSJ.com site and online archives, and access to the Wall Street Journal mobile application on your smartphone. To sign up for access to the site you go to wsj.com/ACU . You will be asked to use your MyACU login to access the site for the first time.

Friends of ACU Library Summit Luncheon

Please join us Monday, Sept. 16, noon – 1:30 p.m. in the Library Packer Forum for the dedication of the Davis – Tucker Conference Room and annual Friends of ACU Library luncheon, this year celebrating Lynn Anderson (’90), who was the preaching minister at Highland Church of Christ from 1971 to 1990.  Special guest speakers will help us to celebrate the inauguration of the Lynn Anderson Collection at ACU’s Brown Library.

Brown Library Dedication-Packer Forum

Join us Sat., 7, from 10:00 a.m – 1 p.m. as we celebrate the dedication of the Barry and Diane Packer Forum with a ribbon-cutting ceremony including former ACU board chair and trustee Dr. Barry Packer (’78) and his wife, Diane (Stephens ’77) who are namesakes of the project.

After the dedication, we will celebrate the 210th Anniversary of Thomas Campbell’s Declaration and Address with a lunch and congregational worship to include the ACU A Cappella Chorus and a keynote lecture by Dr. Wes Crawford:  “Christian Only, But Not the Only Christians:  A Restoration Plea for 21st Century America”

Benefits Tip: Wellness Portal Activity

Are you still needing to earn additional wellness credits?  If so, you still have time to participate in the August Portal Activity – Motivated to Move.

All you have to do is try out 2 new types of physical activity and you can earn 1 credit.  Some examples of the different activities can include: Wearable Technology, Streaming Workouts, Group Training Classes, or Functional Fitness Apps and Classes.

To receive credit for this activity:
1. Click on My Challenges on the top of the wellness portal and then click on Portal Activity.

2. Self-report one time this month confirming you have tried 2 new types of physical activity in order to earn credit. You will receive credit for completing this activity within 48 hours at the end of the month.
