ACU has kicked off our annual United Way Campaign for faculty and staff. Please consider participating this year by contributing to this excellent organization. The United Way of Abilene invests 99 cents of every dollar it receives back into the Abilene community, helping a wide variety of local non-profit organizations. This is an opportunity to give back to our city and to reach out to our neighbors as we strive to be a relational university.

This year we will be offering an incentive for employees that choose to give to the United Way campaign. The department with the highest percentage of giving will receive free lunch from a local restaurant as a reward. Our campaign ends on November 22 and we need your gift to help make a big impact on Abilene. Remember, any amount is appreciated; even $5 a month can be used to help someone in critical need. You can email the completed form to uw@acu.edu or return it to Human Resources at ACU Box 29106 or humanresources@acu.edu no later than November 22nd.

Join Dr. Joe Stephenson as he reveals all he knows about the origins of The Dutch Lady, an exciting, long-lost play. Fresh off trips to London (where The Dutch Lady was performed by Shakespeare’s Globe) and Virginia (where he made an exciting announcement about his research), Dr. Stephenson has returned to Abilene and is ready to tell all. His research as Culp professor will finish next year, but he has already found out quite a bit about the origins of this play–when and where it was written, where it may have been performed, its sources and influence . . . . and perhaps even a hint at the authorship!

The event will be in the CORE Classroom on Nov. 4, 7:30-8:30 p.m. Refreshments will include cookies–a snack and a word which came into our culture through Dutch influence.

Dr. Richard Wright (Professor of New Testament) will be presenting a session on using Accordance bible software, focused on new users. We hope you can join us on Tuesday, November 5 from 11:30 a.m.-12:50 p.m. in the Scholars Lab (Library 326) to hear Dr. Wright and to enjoy a free lunch! RSVP

All benefits-eligible employees will need to complete their 2020 benefits enrollment online between November 4th and November 8th. If you would like assistance enrolling in your benefits during this week, come to the Brown Library, 3rd floor Computer Lab (BL301) for help from an HR or benefits vendor representative.

Join the African Students Association for their annual CHOMA (African Food Festival)! The event will be on Saturday, Nov. 2nd at 6:00 p.m. at the lower level of the campus center. Get your tickets for $3 this week in the campus center at 11:30 a.m. or at the door.

You may still receive your flu shot at the ACU Medical Clinic. We also have the high dose flu vaccine recommended for those aged 65 and over. You may call 325-674-2625 to make an appointment or walk in between 8-12 and 1-4:30 M-F.

Join walkers from across our community as they step out to have fun, get inspired and support a meaningful cause. Take a few minutes to consider the lives you are going to help change for the better through your leadership. Help keep hearts everywhere beating. Let’s take steps together to cure heart disease and stroke.

Walkers will have a choice of a 5K non-competitive walk or a one-mile route that will be more conducive to strollers or anyone needing special assistance. Heart Walk will be Sat., Nov. 2 at Nelson Park, 8:30 a.m. registration; 9:30 a.m. walk begins.

Apple released the new version of its operating system, MacOS 10.15 Catalina on Date. Updating to the new version can potentially cause problems ranging from software incompatibility to rendering the computer unusable. If you choose to update, please be aware that there is limited support we can provide until we receive updates to our supported software. We are in the process of testing our software, systems, and services with this update. Once all issues have been identified and resolved, we will begin supporting this update.
