As a reminder, our campus read for this spring is Brenda Salter McNeil’s Becoming Brave. To receive a copy of the book staff should complete this form. Faculty books have been made available in each college dean’s office. Stay tuned for opportunities to participate in a book study to be announced soon.

Following Chief Jimmy Ellison’s departure earlier this year, Lieutenant Randy Motz has stepped into the role of interim chief of police for the ACU Police Department. In addition to his military and other police experience, Randy has served as a member of ACUPD for 9-years. Randy and all of the ACUPD team are committed to providing the same level of excellence established under Jimmy’s leadership. This commitment and his ability to uphold it were made all the more clear in the past week as ACUPD helped guide the campus and community through an unprecedented winter storm.  Randy will continue in the interim role until a new chief of police is named. A search committee has been formed, and applications are currently being accepted for this vital role.

Save the date – make plans to join us for Senior Candlelight Send-Off on Sunday, May 2. Faculty, staff and May 2021 graduates are invited to gather Sunday evening for a time of praise and prayer for our graduating seniors as they begin the next season of their journey. We will have additional details and registration available after Spring Break. In the meantime, we hope you’ll mark your calendar for a memorable evening of prayer and praise together.

Dear ACU Staff Member (Abilene Campus), It is time to gauge interest and nominate staff members for the 2021-23 ACU Staff Senate! You may nominate up to two staff employees, including yourself if you are interested in serving. When selecting your nomination(s), you will only see those eligible to serve for the upcoming two-year term (June 2021-May 2023). You may review the Staff Senate bylaws here. All nominees will be verified to ensure willingness to serve, prior to the vote. During this process, the senator terms and duties as outlined in the bylaws must be reviewed and accepted. Please nominate your Staff Senators by Friday, February 26, 2021. Due to the recent campus closure for inclement weather for the week of Feb. 15 thru Feb. 19, the following is information regarding submitting time:

Non-Exempt employees will see a line titled “Inclement Weather” on their Web Time. Non-Exempt employees (including temporary employees) who did not work during the closure should record their normally scheduled hours as inclement weather. Non-Exempt employees who worked any time during the closure, including checking work email and voice mail, should record the time worked as base pay and the remainder of their regular schedule as inclement weather. Employees should not report more than eight hours total for any given day. For example, if you worked three hours, you would report three hours of base pay and five hours of inclement weather for that day.

NOTE: Employees who were already taking vacation days during that time should still record the time off as vacation not inclement weather.

Student employees will see a line titled “Inclement Weather” on their Web Time.
We have decided to pay all student employees for this week. Please have students enter their regularly scheduled time for this week and be sure to review and approve their timesheets.

Exempt employees do not need to take any action.
