Human Resources would like to invite all Faculty and Staff to a Christmas Luncheon in the Bean. Lunch will be served from 11:30 to 1:00 on Tuesday, December 17th. Faculty and staff with their ID cards will receive lunch at no charge. Family members and students may purchase a meal for $11.00.
Beginning later this month, ACU faculty and staff are welcome to enter a drawing to attend the Faulkner Center’s first annual marriage retreat. The marriage retreat will be held at the beautiful Gruene Mansion Inn located in New Braunfels, Texas, on February 28th – March 2nd 2025. The ten couples drawn will pay a total of $175, which will include 2 nights at the Inn and a Saturday marriage enrichment workshop (meals are on your own). It will be a wonderful time to connect with your spouse and enjoy the lovely and relaxing surroundings. Details on how to register for the drawing will be shared later this month.

The African Students Association invites you to their annual food & music festival, CHOMA! Mark your calendars for an unforgettable night at the Hunter Welcome Center on Saturday, November 23rd at 6pm. Tickets can be purchased online here or at the campus center, Monday-Friday from 11AM to 2PM. This year’s theme is “Winter Wonderland”. Come ready for an amazing evening of food, music, and memories to last!
Join the Indian Culture Association at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, for the ICA’s flagship fall event, the Golden Gala: Festival of Lights. This celebration provides an inclusive experience for everyone, featuring cultural performances, authentic Indian cuisine and engaging activities highlighting the richness of the Indian heritage. It aims to bring together students, faculty, staff and the larger community for a festive evening of joy, connection and shared traditions. Tickets are $12 per person for ACU faculty, staff and community members by 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 5 and $16 after. Student tickets are $5. Tickets can be purchased here or in the campus center from 11AM-1PM, Monday-Friday.
According to the ACU Holiday Calendar, campus will be closed Wednesday, November 27 – Friday, November 29 for Thanksgiving break, and Monday, December 23 – Wednesday, January 1 for Christmas and the New Year. Staff should begin to consider that only 80 hours of vacation can be rolled over to 2025. You can view the details of the vacation rollover for exempt and non-exempt staff that occurs in January here.
The ACU Undergraduate Research, Creativity, and Innovation Festival is scheduled for Tuesday, April 15, 2025, in the Hunter Welcome Center. Please mark your calendars and begin encouraging students to think about projects to present at the festival. Dr. Mark Hamilton and Dr. Kelli Gibson have edited volume II of Singing with the Shepherds: Meditations and Prayers for the Season of Advent. This collection is a collaboration from faculty, students, alumni and friends of the Graduate School of Theology at ACU. Many thanks to Mark and Kelli who have worked to create this this resource for the ACU Community.
Please make sure you completed the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities’ (CCCU) assessment of faculty and staff thriving survey by November 15. This instrument is designed to measure faculty and staff levels of thriving, which is defined as positive emotions and vital engagement in your role at ACU. The survey also assesses what it takes for university faculty and staff to thrive: aspects of the institutional environment that support or hinder your thriving. Our purpose is to discover the extent to which our faculty and staff are enjoying their work here, to uncover any gender or racial differences, and to surface the aspects of the environment that may be hindering your ability to thrive. The survey should only take 15 minutes to complete and all responses are confidential and only grouped data will be reported to the institution. These surveys will allow ACU to compare our results to other CCCU institutions.
Join us Thursday, November 14, from 7-8:15 p.m. in Boone Family Theatre as we launch a new series designed to bring speakers of national significance to Abilene for engaging discussions on global issues. The inaugural Big Country Conversations event features political analysts Paul Begala and Karl Rove, who will offer their unique perspectives on the presidential election and what’s next for the U.S. and Texas. The event is open to the community, general admission tickets are $25 each. Faculty and staff are welcome to use code WILDCAT25 for complimentary admission.
