Benefits Tip: Employee Assistance Program

You and your covered dependents have access to The Standard’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP). This confidential service offers free over-the-phone counseling any time, day or night, to help you with a variety of personal situations. The EAP also provides up to 3 counseling sessions for both you and your covered dependents, either in person or over the phone. Counselors can help with concerns such as emotional well-being and health, relationships, parenting and addiction. To contact the EAP, call 888-293-6948, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to talk to a professional counselor. Register online

Q: I don’t use ACU’s health insurance. Do I still need to do open enrollment?

A: Even if you are not on ACU’s health insurance plan, you must still go through the enrollment process. There are other benefits, like the ACU-paid life insurance coverage, that you will want to confirm.

Q: I work remotely. How can I get assistance?

A: Go ahead and schedule an appointment time. Then, email humanresources@acu.edu to let us know you need your appointment via Zoom. We will send you a link before your appointment time.

Q: I see a wellness surcharge on my health premiums, but I don’t think this is right. How do I get that fixed?

A: You need to go ahead and complete your enrollment. Email humanresources@acu.edu to let us know you believe there is a wellness error. We will verify your wellness credit before deductions in January.

Benefits Tip: Retirement Election Form

Do you need to update the amount you contribute to your retirement account? You may change the amount of your contributions any time. All changes will become effective as soon as administratively feasible and will remain in effect until modified or terminated by you. You may discontinue your contributions anytime. Once you stop making contributions, you may start again at any time. You can find the 403(b) Retirement Plan Salary Election Form here.

2026 Annual Benefits Enrollment

All benefits-eligible employees will need to participate in annual enrollment this week from October 20 to 24. 

Be sure to take time to review your options, then follow these simple steps to enroll.

  1. Visit myACUbenefits.com to review your Benefits Guide.
  2. Click Enroll and follow the prompts to make your elections by October 24.
  3. Add or remove dependents

Elections take effect January 1, 2026.
You must take action by October 24 to ensure you have benefits coverage for 2026. Your current benefits will NOT carry over.

Benefits Tip: New HSA Bank Card

If you are enrolled in the High Deductible Health Plan at ACU, you will be receiving a new card from HSA Bank, featuring the convenience of tap-to-pay technology, as well as enhanced security with features like Mastercard ID Theft Protection, designed to help protect your personal information.  You won’t be able to use your old or new card to pay for purchases during a 1- to 3-day transitional period after your new HSA Bank card is delivered. You’ll get a more detailed timing of this period when your card arrives. You can still make eligible purchases with a personal card, reimburse yourself and pay providers directly from your account during this time.

When scheduling your eye exam for 2025, please keep the following information in mind. Before your appointment, it is important to verify that providers accept insurance. If you enrolled in ACU’s vision plan, visit vsp.com to find a provider. ACU’s medical plan pays for preventative eye exams. Please be sure to verify that your eye doctor is in-network if you plan to utilize your medical insurance for your vision visit. How do I find an in-network doctor? You can call 800-687-0500 or go online. For HealthSmart (covered employee resides in Texas): Visit providerlookup.healthsmart.com/. Select “HealthSmart Physician/Ancillary Only” as your network If you do not see your provider listed as in-network, you can nominate a provider here. For Prime Physician (covered employee resides outside Texas): Visit occunetpon.primehealthservices.com.

Benefits Tip: Identity Theft Assistance

To further enhance our commitment to protect you and your family, ACU provides Identity Theft coverage to all benefits-eligible employees at no cost to you. We also give you the option to purchase this coverage for your dependents. This service will offer income protection, reimbursement for allowable expenses related to the recovery of your identity, and a customer claims representative to aid you in the process of restoring your identity.
