Ethnos: Awakening 2020

The International Students Association in collaboration with Cultura Local ABI proudly presents, Ethnos: Awakening 2020! Let us take you on a trip around the world on Saturday, Nov. 7th at the Town & Country Drive-In as we celebrate and bring the cultures of Abilene to life! Show begins at 7:00 PM. Tickets may be purchased via Venmo, CashApp or with cash at the ACU Campus Center from Monday-Friday, 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM. Tickets may also be purchased online. Benefits Tip: Vacation Rollover

Staff are allowed to roll over up to 80 hours of vacation each calendar year. For 2021, the rollover date will be January 2nd. If you have more than 80 hours of vacation, you should plan to use the overage prior to January 2nd so that you do not lose that time.

Digital Scholars Grant Recipients Virtual Session

The Scholars Lab will be hosting a virtual session on Monday, Oct. 12 at 11:40 a.m. featuring Digital Scholars Grant recipients, Dr. Lynette Austin, Professor of Communication Sciences & Disorders, and Dr. Trey Shirley, Associate Professor and Assistant Chair of Art and Design and Director of Cornerstone. They will share how they are making use of grant funds with regard to faculty research and learning within their specific fields of expertise. Homecoming Kickoff for Faculty & Staff

All faculty and staff in Abilene kick off Homecoming week with the Alumni team on Tuesday, Oct. 13, from 5:30-7 p.m. on the porch of Hunter Welcome Center. Come and go and enjoy food, games and time with colleagues and family. Registration is required – we’ll have free T-shirts for the first 150 employees who arrive at the event. Faculty and staff and immediate family are invited to join us. RSVP today!

ACU Homecoming – Night at the Zoo

Celebrate Homecoming with the ACU family at the Abilene Zoo! ACU students, faculty, staff and their families are invited to join us Friday, Oct 16 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. for free zoo attractions, free food, music, giveaways and more! Dinner provided for the first 550 guests. There will be a DJ, photo opportunities and free admission to the carousel, zoo train and giraffe feeding station. Faculty/Staff Meetings

Dr. Schubert and Dr. Rhodes will host two virtual meetings this fall – one in September and one in October. Please make plans to join us Thursday, Sept. 17 from 12-1 p.m. or 4-5 p.m., whichever time fits best with your schedule, for the first of these meetings. Bidding Farewell – Stefan Bushey

The Library is bidding farewell to Circulation Supervisor, Stefan Bushey. Stefan’s last day is Friday, September 18th. Stefan has been with the Library as a student worker in the ACU Learning Studio, Evening and Weekend Supervisor, and as our Library Circulation Supervisor since 2015. We are very grateful for all of the work that he has done for us and for the mentoring and support of our student employees that have worked with him. A Google form is available to write an encouraging message for Stefan as he leaves ACU for the next chapter in his life, graduating with a Master’s in Conflict Management and Resolution from ACU in Summer 2020. Join us in well wishes for Stefan by submitting a message on the Google Form.
