The contents of what most people remember as the home economics lab in the Sherrod Building are priced to sell on September 2nd and 4th at 9:00 -11:00 a.m. & 1:00-3:00 p.m. in the lab. The Sherrod Building now houses Communication and Sociology. The “Home Ec” lab is on the first floor, room 131, with the easiest access through the door facing the GATA Fountain mall area. The sale includes large quantities of kitchen gadgets, appliances, cookware and bake-ware including: flour sifters, rolling pins, measuring cups and spoons, cutting boards, egg beaters, strainers, knives, mixing bowls, casseroles, pots, pans, pressure cookers, canning supplies, canisters, dishes, stand mixers, electric frying pans, waffle makers and woks–crystal salad/dessert plates, stemware, drink ware, dessert dishes and serving pieces. Better crystal includes Fostoria American and Imperial Candlewick patterns. A large silver plate collection includes fancy trays, serving pieces, beautiful punch bowl with cups, flatware, gorgeous coffee urn, plus a few little pieces of sterling. Other items for sale include silverware trays, kitchen scales, microwaves, refrigerators, stove units, dryer, ironing machine, rolling food prep demonstration table, rolling metal lectern and more! These items are great to add to your own collection, set up a new kitchen or outfit rental property, campers or vacation homes. Some things are fairly new while others are vintage, but all are good, usable and steeped in ACU history! Cash and card will be accepted. Come ready to carry away your treasures!

All faculty, staff and students can receive free COVID testing Tuesday, Sept. 8 by signing up at this calendar. As part of ACU’s ongoing efforts to keep our campus community as safe as possible, we are providing periodic open testing dates. The first clinic is  Tuesday, Sept. 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the west concourse of Moody Coliseum.  The clinic will be offering PCR testing as a part of a research project with TTUHSC. The next testing date will be Oct. 7. Questions may be sent to covidquestions@acu.edu.

Dr. Patricia Hernandez, Professor of core Curriculum in the Department of Biology since 1989, is retiring at the end of August. Dr. Hernandez has been a Committee Member with the Intercultural Effectiveness Team since 1989 and a Faculty advisor for Hispanos Unidos since 1991. Her work with the Diabetes Education Program, Pet Enhanced Therapy Services and Haskell Prison Ministry has touched many in our community through the years. If you would like to send a note of appreciation, words of encouragement or a memory to Patricia, you can do so through this link. “Cultivating gifts”, “mentoring”, and “serving” are words that exemplify Dr. Hernandez. The Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) requires employers to file annual reports with the Internal Revenue Service and the U.S. Department of Labor on the status of their various employee benefit plans, and to provide employees with a summary of those reports, called a Summary Annual Report. Help us celebrate Darren Wilson’s service as Director of the Maker Lab on July 30 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. in the Library Atrium. If you would like to send a note of thanks and encouragement instead, please do so on this Google form by 5:00 p.m. on July 29.

The ACU Medical Clinic can provide all of your COVID-19 testing needs. The PCR test will be available later this summer. The PCR, which is the gold standard of testing will be available at no charge for faculty, staff and students. Watch for details.

The new FDA approved Rapid SARS Antigen test is available now for patients who have been exposed to COVID-19 and/or are exhibiting symptoms. The antigen test is a nasal swab administered via a drive up appointment for $40 and is covered by ACU’s health insurance plan.
