Abilene Christian University’s LightWalk project has been selected as a finalist for IDC’s 2018 Smart City North America Awards, in the Education category.  To be named the 2018 winner, ACU needs your assistance in voting for this project.  Please cast your vote.

We are excited to announce that Dr. Kyle Sheets (‘73) will preside as the medical director of the ACU Medical Clinic beginning January 2, 2018. Dr. Sheets is the founder of Concord Medical Group and was awarded the 2017 Humanitarian Award by the American Academy of Family Physicians at its annual meeting. This recent article provides insight into Dr. Sheets passion for serving others through his medical expertise.

Dr. Sarah Ferguson is the current medical director of our Medical Clinic and she will be closing her practice on campus December 22. This will not affect her other practice located in the Jones Building at Hendrick Medical Center. It has been a privilege to host Dr. Ferguson on campus and she has blessed the ACU community in many ways.

Please know that your medical records will remain the property of the ACU Medical Clinic.  You may get copies of your medical records, including immunization records, by completing the Release of Information form and returning it to the Medical and Counseling Care Center (MACCC). If you have any questions, please call 325-674-2625 for more information.

Please join the College of Biblical Studies as we honor Dr. Doug Foster on Monday, December 11, for his 26 years of service to our college and the university. The reception will be in the lower Rotunda (under the big globe) of the Onstead-Packer College of Biblical Studies building from 10-11:30 a.m. Words of gratitude, well wishes, and a special presentation will begin at 11:00 a.m.

The Department of Communication and Sociology invites you to a come-and-go appreciation reception honoring Dr. Joe Cardot for his 27 years of service as department chair. Reception will be on Monday, Dec. 11th, 2-3:30 p.m., in the Sherrod building, SHB 134. Special presentation at 2:30 p.m. Come celebrate Dr. Cardot’s service to the university as he transitions back to full-time teaching in the Spring.

Please join the School of Nursing in honoring Dr. Anita Broxson as she retires after 5 years of inspirational teaching at ACU. Her reception will be on Thursday, Decmeber 14, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. in the Hunter Welcome Center lobby. Special presentations will start around 2:30 p.m. We hope you and many alumni will be able to join us to honor her for this special occasion.

Please join us for a reception honoring Kay Reeves for her 27 years of service at ACU. We hope you will come celebrate with her on Thursday, November 30, from 2:30-4:00 p.m. in the  East Foyer of Hunter Welcome Center. Kay is retiring from ACU after serving in several important service roles from 1990-2017.

Diversity Matters, a new book from ACU Press about race, ethnicity, and diversity at Christian colleges and universities, has received national critical acclaim. Recently, Inside Higher Ed published a feature article about the book.

Diversity Matters invites discussion among Christian colleges and universities on topics of diversity and how to position leadership in ways that honor God. Jennifer Shewmaker, Executive Director of Adams Center for Teaching and Learning and Professor of Psychology, authored chapter 15 and states, “ACU is committed to moving forward, in love and courage, to embrace the unity of Christ together.”
