Nominate December Graduates for Honor Awards

You are invited to nominate students for the December 2017 Honor Awards! You can click on this link to view a list of the eligible graduating seniors included in a drop down menu on the webpage. Nomination reasons should be at least a paragraph describing the student’s personal attributes or contributions that correspond to the award nomination.

Your input will assist the Student Life Committee in making appropriate decisions with respect to the final recipients for Honor Man or Honor Woman, Trustees Award, B Sherrod Scholarship, or Dean Adams Achievement.

Please submit your nominations for the December 2017 Honor Awards by 12:00 p.m.on Friday, November 17.

Dialogue & Nexus Journal

The Biology Department launched its online journal, Dialogue & Nexus, via Digital Commons (thanks, Laura Baker) to spotlight Senior Theses from the Biology Capstone course. The journal is fast becoming recognized for its faith & science dialogue. Since July, it has had nearly 1000 downloads of our student’s papers worldwide. New book Edited by Library Dean, John Weaver

The recent publication of Reading for Faith and Learning (ACU Press, 2017) gives voice to several ACU faculty and their perspectives on the nature and importance of reading within the academy and the church. Edited by Dr. John B. Weaver and a colleague at Harvard University, Dr. Douglas Gragg, the book includes important new essays by a number ACU alums and current faculty, including Dr. Carisse Berryhill, associate dean for digital initiatives, special collections and university archives, Craig Churchill, theological librarian, Dr. Carson Reed, director of the Siburt Institute for Church Ministry, and Dr. Richard A. Wright, associate professor in the Graduate School of Theology. You can order a copy from the ACU Press website.

Farewell Reception – Dr. Stuart Platt

ACU employees are invited to a farewell reception for Dr. Stuart Platt of the ACU Criminal Justice Program, who is leaving after four years of outstanding teaching to work in the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.  Dr. Platt will be working in the Office of Professional Responsibility, tasked with ensuring that lawyers employed by the DOJ follow the guidelines, rules, and laws associated with their responsibilities for the federal government. The reception will be held Friday, Sept.  1st in the Halbert-Walling Research Center Atrium from 2-3:30 p.m., with a presentation at 3:00 p.m.

Farewell Reception Honoring Dr. Jaime Goff

ACU Dallas invites you to a dessert reception honoring Dr. Jaime Goff, on Thursday, August 17, from 8:00-9:00 p.m., at the Dallas Campus, 16633 Dallas Parkway, Suite 800, Addison 75001.  Jaime has served ACU for the last 13 years in various roles, most recently as the founding Dean for ACU’s College Graduate and Professional Studies on the Dallas Campus. Retirement Celebration – Dr. Dickie Hill

Join us for a retirement celebration honoring Dickie Hill on Saturday, July 29th at 1:30-3:00 p.m. at the University Church of Christ Youth Center, 733 E.N. 16th. Dickie is retiring from ACU after teaching  from 1977-2017. We celebrate his commitment to Christian higher education and excellence in teaching at ACU. Your presence and/or well wishes are the only gifts needed.

2018 Outstanding Staff Nominations

Each year during Pre-Session, we take the opportunity to present awards to two outstanding staff members. The Senior Leadership Team will select the honorees based on nominations they receive from the campus. Please take the time to nominate a member of the staff for this honor. The deadline to submit nominations is Friday, May 18th.
