How it works

Observation

  • A student partner will attend one class per week
  • During the classroom observation, the student partner will record observations using academic notetaking methods. 
  • After classroom observation, the student partner will reflect on and develop observations into actionable feedback.

Dialogue

  • Faculty and student partners will meet weekly to discuss observations.
  • The student can let the faculty member know when parts of the class are unclear and give feedback on strategies to engage better with students.
  • The faculty member can share their teaching strategies with the student partner, which gives the student partner insight into their own learning.

Analysis

  • Student partners submit reflections to data set.
  • Student partners meet weekly with the program director to discern themes, brainstorm ideas, and consider larger implications.
  • Student partners have the opportunity to work with faculty to pursue further pedagogical research.
