The weather is getting colder which means it is flu and cold season! Over 60 percent of adults over the age of 65 are hospitalized due to the flu.

Here are a few tips for preventing harmful illnesses:

  • When going to the store, wipe off the handle of the grocery basket to prevent contracting harmful viruses.
  • Wash hands for a minimum of 20 seconds while scrubbing with soap and water. Dry hands with a clean towel.
  • Avoid touching the face.
  • Wash hands before eating.
  • Get the flu vaccine.
  • Get a wellness check from the doctor.9

Flu 2018 Symptoms:

  • Difficulty Breathing
  • Cough/Sore Throat
  • Body Aches
  • Chills/Fever
  • Runny/Stuffy Nose
  • Fatigue

If experiencing these symptoms, make an appointment with the doctor and stay home to avoid infecting others. Stay home for at least 24 hours after fever has stopped unless to get medical care or medicine. Remember, it’s not too late to get your flu shot! Get the vaccine at the doctor or at CVS and Walgreens!
