Sarah Carey with the Area Agency on Aging of West Central Texas spoke to our Caregiver Support group this week, and I was just blown away by the amount of resources and help they provide free of cost. Each time I speak with them, I learn about something new.
One of the many services that stuck out to me was their Social Reassurance calls. Someone will call just to check in and chat with older homebound individuals who need the feeling of connection and community that a simple phone call can bring!
Many people don’t know that this valuable resource is available, or they don’t take advantage because they don’t know if they qualify. My advice is to just reach out and ask.
Sarah left us with lots of resources about all of the services they provide such as Benefits Counseling, Care Coordination, Caregiver Support Coordination, etc. Below is part of the slideshow she shared during her presentation. Feel free to stop by the Pruett Gerontology Center during our regular hours for more information.
