Name: Patrick Luberus
Major: Information Technology
Classification: Senior
Hometown: Manhattan, Kansas
Mentor: Dr. Alfandika Nyandoro, School of Information Technology and Computing
What I Study: I have been working with Dr. Nyandoro on two different research projects. Our first project was “Going Green in University Computer Labs”, which investigated energy consumption in labs and sought to determine how we could reduce energy costs without adversely affecting lab users. From that paper, we began working on a second paper, “Implementing Wake-on-LAN in Institutional Networks”, which discussed the challenges and potential benefits of implementing wake-on-LAN to reduce energy costs in a university setting.
Why I do research: I love to learn, and doing research gives me the opportunity to really dive deep into a topic. It’s also a fantastic way to build my resume (especially since I’m very interested in going to graduate school).
