Art & Design Students,

It is with bittersweet emotions that we announce the retirement of Kitty Wasemiller. Spring of 2015 will be her last semester to serve as a full-time faculty member. Kitty has directed the Interior Design program since 1984 and will have completed 31 years of service to ACU before her retirement. Thanks to her tireless dedication and high standards, the program is one of only 15 accredited Interior Design programs in the state of Texas. Her students have won countless regional and national awards and our alumni are working in many prestigious companies. But most telling is the love and respect her students and colleagues have for her. She will be greatly missed.

While we are sad to see Kitty go we are excited for what lies ahead. She and her husband, Gene, plan to move to Granbury, Texas to be closer to their three adult children and grandchild who live in the DFW area. She will continue to work in interior design consulting and with activities related to education and the design industry. There is no doubt Kitty will continue to have great impact on whatever receives her time and attention.

The department is currently deep into the process of finding a replacement for this important position. We are accepting application and will be hosting interviews early in the Spring semester. A final decision will be made at the end of the Spring semester which will result in a new Director of the Interior Design program starting Fall of 2015. We humbly ask for your thoughts, prayers and encouragement throughout this important process.

Please join us in thanking Professor Wasemiller for her amazing service to the University, and more specifically, the impact she has had on the lives of hundreds of students. As her retirement date approaches we will plan a time for us all to gather and express our thanks and well wishes.

Sincerely,
Mike Wiggins
