Title: Front-end designer

Summary of Position:

Design and implement improvements to user interfaces for both web and application development, be able to offer recommendations to clients and team members based on contextual design principles, and be able to contribute to technical projects as a member of a professional development team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works with project manager to design UI’s to client specifications, over multiple iterations.
  • Works with members of the development team to ensure proper interaction between front-and-back-end.
  • Consults with client and project manager to determine proper design principles for the given project.
  • Assists with internal review of design elements and project iterations.
  • Has a working knowledge of common tools in the industry and is able to learn new ones as necessary.
  • Can contribute knowledge and creativity to team meetings and project discussions.

Steve Ellinger Honored by the AIA

Steve Ellinger, adjunct Interior Design and Architecture professor, has been honored by the AIA. The Fellowship program was developed to elevate those architects who have made a significant contribution to architecture and society and who have achieved a standard of excellence in the profession. Election to fellowship not only recognizes the achievements of architects as individuals, but also their significant contribution to architecture and society on a national level.

The 2015 Jury of Fellows from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) elevated 147 AIA members to its prestigious College of Fellows. Out of a total AIA membership of over 85,000 there are over 3,200 members distinguished with this honor.

The 2015 Fellows will be honored at an investiture ceremony at the AIA Convention 2015 in Atlanta.

Weekend of Letterpress in Lubbock – April 2nd

Brad Vetter: Explorations in Letterpress is a joint effort by CASP and Texas Tech University School of Art to present a weekend of free events with renowned letterpress artist and graphic designer Brad Vetter to take place Thursday, April 2nd – Saturday, April 4th. Please join us for this unique opportunity to meet artist Brad Vetter, experience his work and that of other West Texas printmakers, and learn the historic technique of letterpress.

Saturday workshops are limited to 20 participants per session, and the only activity that requires advanced registration. Please contact CASP Project Manager Chad Plunket with name and preferred workshop time via text at 806.928.4529 or email at casp@lhuca.org.

Two Time Caldecott Honor Author-Illustrator Marla Frazee at the NCCIL –THIS Thursday at Art Walk

Starting February 12th, NCCIL will be opening a new exhibition, “Drawing Stories: The Picture Book Art of Marla Frazee”.  Marla Frazee was awarded a Caldecott Honor for All the World and A Couple of Boys Have the Best Week Ever. She is the author-illustrator of Roller Coaster, Walk On!, Santa Claus the World’s Number One Toy Expert, The Boss Baby, Boot & Shoe, and her newest The Farmer and the Clown, as well as the illustrator of many other books including The Seven Silly Eaters, Stars, the NYT bestselling Clementine series, and God Got a Dog by Cynthia Rylant. Marla teaches at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA, has three grown sons, and works in a small backyard cabin under an avocado tree.

The NCCIL would like to invite you  for the Artist Talk by Marla Frazee and Allyn Johnston (VP & Publisher, Beach Lane Books, a division of Simon and Schuster) THIS Thursday, February 12 at 6:00 PM. It is art walk night and this event is FREE to all. Hear Marla talk about her beginnings, of being a commercial artist and then an award winning illustrator, and working with her editor and publisher of long time with Allyn Johnston.

DSVC Competition Deadline Extended

DSVC moved up their competition deadline this year. They have extended it to next Friday (2/13). Everything you need to know is below so please enter some of your best work. We always do really well in this competition, it looks great on a resume and our work showing during the job fair is huge for graduating seniors and those looking for internships.
