Art Assistant – Zumafilmz

Zumafilmz, a small documentary and inspirational film company located at 2700 Shepherd, Abilene, TX. is looking for an art assistant for this semester. It would be at least 15 hours a week for $10 an hour.  If you are interested email lauren@zumafilmz.com to set up an interview.  Please apply as soon as possible.

Study Abroad – Summer 2014

The interest meeting for our Study Abroad program is set for Tuesday, Sept. 17 @ 11 am. in DM 141. Pizza and drinks will be provided. Please reply by e-mail to Brandon if you’re planning to attend. He needs a rough headcount for ordering pizzas.  Reply to bly95s@acu.edu

Advising Workshops…Your new best friend!

Don’t just build your schedule for next semester, come to one of our workshops and build your schedule all the way to graduation! 

We are starting to offer these workshops this semester for all our students so that you can take charge of your degree tracking. You will have time to actually map out your classes during this workshop time. We want to equip you in every way possible to manage your degree planning so that you do not take unnecessary classes so that you can complete your requirements in the most timely way possible. The next one will be Wednesday September 25 at 11am in Room 141.

2013 Faculty Exhibition – Artist Talk October 18th

The show opened Friday September 13, 2013 at Shore Art Gallery. We so enjoyed the opportunity to visit and eat together as a Department. Don’t miss the Artist Talk that will be held on October 18th at 5:30.

Freshmen Portfolio Submissions

We will be notifying you all in the next few days about the results from your portfolio submissions. Thank you all so much for participating and picking up your portfolios.
A&D Departmental Chapel THIS Thursday
Don’t forget to join us this week for chapel in Room 141.  Our theme for the semester is Encountering God. We will meet each Thursday except for the week of Summit and Thanksgiving. You won’t want to miss getting to know our faculty and fellow students better through this avenue.

Faculty Exhibition and  Cookout – Friday Night

Doors open at 5:30 on Friday September 13, 2013 at Shore Art Gallery. This event will count as an Art Event credit, so don’t forget to complete your Art Credit forms afterwards. This is a great way to see Faculty work and interact with students and faculty as we eat together.

Freshmen Portfolio Pick Up – THIS Wednesday in Room 142

Please pick up your submissions in the Department Office this Wednesday. Thank you for your participation!
December Graduates (Senior Shows)

If your intention is to graduate this December and you have not yet heard from Jack Maxwell about setting up a Senior Show, please email me.  It is easy for people to fall through the cracks at this stage and we do not want that to happen.  Make sure you have lodged an Intent to Graduate with the Registrar’s office.

A&D Departmental Chapel

There has been a campus wide change to Departmental Chapels.  We are waiting to hear a final word about how many we will offer.  But please mark your calendar for our first one. We will meet next Thursday, Sept. 12th at 11:00am in Room 141.

Worship Leader Needed for A&D Chapel
We are looking for someone gifted in leading worship to fill the role as Worship Leader for chapel. Your responsibilities will include selecting 2 or 3 songs and leading those, praying over our gathering and making any needed announcements.  You will need to meet with Arlene to gather announcements, chapel sign in sheets and make sure the room is ready for our speaker.   Contact Arlene in the office.

Leadership Summit T-Shirt Design Contest

The contest is open to all students to design a t-shirt to be worn at Leadership Summit 2014 where the theme will be “At The Top”
The winning entry will have their design on the t-shirt AND will win a free program fee to Leadership Summit. Submit entries to M.C. Jennings in the COBA Dean’s office or email them to marycolleen.jennings@acu.edu.

+ Attrition Average of Declared Majors Freshman to Sophomore = 34%
+ Retention Average of Declared Majors Freshman to Sophomore = 66%
+ Graduation Rate for Interior Design Majors = 69%
+ Job Placement/Time to Employment of Interior Design Graduates = 83% in 2 months (2012-2014); 5 year average (2009-2013) is 83% in 4 months
+ Acceptance into Graduate Program of Choice = 100%
