Don’t forget to join us this week for chapel in Room 141. Our theme for the semester is Encountering God. We will meet each Thursday except for the week of Summit and Thanksgiving. You won’t want to miss getting to know our faculty and fellow students better through this avenue.

If your intention is to graduate this December and you have not yet heard from Jack Maxwell about setting up a Senior Show, please email me. It is easy for people to fall through the cracks at this stage and we do not want that to happen. Make sure you have lodged an Intent to Graduate with the Registrar’s office.
Advising Workshops…Your new best friend!
Advising Workshop: Don’t just build your schedule for next semester, come to one of our workshops and build your schedule all the way to graduation! We are starting to offer these workshops this semester for all our students so that you can take charge of your degree tracking. You will have time to actually map out your classes during this workshop time. The first one will be Tuesday, September 10 at 11am in Room 141.
A&D Departmental Chapel
There has been a campus wide change to Departmental Chapels. We are waiting to hear a final word about how many we will offer. But please mark your calendar for our first one. We will meet next Thursday, Sept. 12th at 11:00am in Room 141.
Leadership Summit T-Shirt Design Contest
The contest is open to all students to design a t-shirt to be worn at Leadership Summit 2014 where the theme will be “At The Top”
The winning entry will have their design on the t-shirt AND will win a free program fee to Leadership Summit. Submit entries to M.C. Jennings in the COBA Dean’s office or email them to marycolleen.jennings@acu.edu.

MoMA Internship
Fall 2013 Internship Program at MoMA
The Museum of Modern Art is currently accepting applications for the Fall 2013 Internship Program.
Description:
The Fall 2013 Internship Program provides participants in-depth exposure to the workings of individual departments and practical and theoretical training in museum practices, and acquaints them with the role of museums in contemporary society. Working under the supervision of one of the Museum’s professional staff, interns contribute to timely projects, gain insight into the functions of individual departments, and learn about the Museum’s various collections, exhibitions, and programs for visitors. Internship projects are based on Museum needs and requirements and are assigned to interns with the appropriate skills and interests. This unpaid internship runs from September 10 through December 13, 2013.
Eligibility:
College students (One must have a minimum of two years of college completed by September 2013), recent graduates (both B.A. and M.A.), graduate students, and beginning museum professionals. The Museum encourages candidates from diverse backgrounds and academic disciplines to apply. Fall internships require a minimum commitment of two full days per week, one of which must be Tuesday.

INTD Senior Tara Holland (’13) Named First Place in National Sherwin Williams Competition
A Senior Interior Design major (May 2013 graduate), Tara Holland, was named First Place winner ($2500) in the national Sherwin Williams Student Contest for her entry in the competition.
Tara’s entry included elements of a semester assignment completed in the Advanced Interior Design course with Professor Wasemiller last fall. Her ambulatory healthcare center project, the Gaia Women’s Center, included the attached entry images and the design concept statement that follows:
This Women’s Healthcare Facility, located in Savannah, Georgia, has been designed to create an exceptional and positive healing environment for it’s patients in a comforting environment. This facility accommodates the needs of patients, families, as well as staff. The overall solution was developed from evidence-based design and reflects patient’s privacy and dignity. The layout expresses proper circulation along with techniques that assist in wayfinding. The thematic design that is displayed throughout the space communicates prevalent regional aspects, which brings comfort and recognition to the area. Materials, finishes and proper placement of furnishings are key elements in the design. Sherwin Williams paint colors have been carefully selected to reflect the soothing environment of Savannah. Three main colors are intertwined throughout the facility to bring unity and harmony among the space. These colors include: SW 6169 Sedate Gray, SW 6763 Retiring Blue and SW 6724 Mesclun Green. These cool and muted colors are successful in providing patients with a calm and tranquil experience. The overall design solution provides a functional, yet healthy and uplifting environment for patients, family and staff.
