Mark your calendars! Annual Benefits Enrollment for 2013 will be held the week of
October 15-19, 2012. All benefits-eligible employees are required to complete their enrollment online between October 15-19, 2012. Failure to do so may result in a loss of benefits for 2013. Please come join the Human Resources office as we present your 2013 benefits. Presentations will be held in the Campus Center Living Room on 10/9: 12:00-1:00 p.m., 10/10: 9:00-10:00 a.m., 10/11: 9:00-10:00 a.m., & 10/12: 10:00-11:00 a.m. If you areunable to attend one of the Open Enrollment meetings in which we discuss the 2013 benefit offerings, please see the PowerPoint presentation posted
on our website. HR encourages you and your family to spend time reviewing the 2013 Benefit Enrollment Guide in order to understand the choices available to you.

The ACU Medical Clinic is offering the flu shot for $15 to all Faculty and Staff and their dependents.  It is not necessary to schedule an appointment; you may walk in to the clinic between 8:00-10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m.-12 p.m., and 1-4 p.m. Please note the ACU Medical Clinic is not a BCBS provider so this is an out of pocket expense. However, you may obtain your flu shot at no cost at a BCBS provider.

The Support Our Students (SOS) Program connects students with on-campus
support for:

• Academic/Attendance Issues
• Career/Major Indecision or Difficulties
• Unusual/Changes in Behavior
• Retention Concerns

The Women for ACU invite you to our annual Fall Welcome Salad Luncheon on Thursday, Oct. 11 at 11:30 a.m. in the Williams Performing Arts Center on the ACU campus. Our guest speaker will be Gene Boone who will share his amazing story as a Dallas County Sheriff’s Deputy responsible for investigating the Texas School Book Depository where he found the rifle used by Lee Harvey Oswald to shoot President John F. Kennedy on Nov. 22, 1963. Some of us remember exactly where we were when we heard that President Kennedy had been shot on Nov. 22, 1963. Some of us have only read about this tragic event in history books. You are invited to attend this commemoration of the upcoming 50th anniversary of the assassination of President Kennedy and see this piece of history from another perspective. Contracting 101: An introduction to ACU’s Contract Process  will be offered the following dates: Oct. 11 & 16 at 3:00 p.m. and/or November 2 at 11:00 a.m. in the Adams Center.  This training will teach you how to enter a contract with outside entities providing  a service (e.g., transportation or equipment) or location for an activity or trip with provisions explaining who bears responsibility for related risk. To begin the year, the Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble will combine forces on Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m. in Cullen Auditorium to perform Duke Ellington’s “Harlem,” a uniquely powerful piece of music. The concert will also feature Derek Brown, Director of Jazz Studies, performing selections from “Focus” by Stan Getz for solo tenor saxophone and strings, and the orchestra will perform “Roman Carnival Overture” by Berlioz. The concert is free and open to the public.

In order to help educate our student-athletes and the ACU Athletic community, we have partnered with Athletic Advantage™ by Team ProTech. Student-athletes as well as coaches, institutional staff/faculty, boosters and representatives of athletics interest are invited to engage in a self-paced online NCAA rules training program, much like those found in Fortune 500 companies to educate and train their employees.
