  • Subsequent citations from the same author and work can just include the author’s last name, a shortened title, and the page number(s) (e.g., Johnson, Acts, 354).
  • For all questions, see The SBL Handbook of Style. For instance, note the helpful listing of standard abbreviations for ancient and modern works (68-152).
