This is one of my favorite artists when it comes to timelapse photography. Most of Terje Sorgjerd’s filming is done in Norway. This particular piece is in Spain. Feel free to click on his other works after you watch this one. If you watch his videos at the vimeo site, you can read a little bit more about the making and locations of the films.

I am really impressed with the way this first image came out. If I had not been present for the making of this photo, I would have assumed there were two photos juxtaposed together, with light streaks added over them in editing. The crisp distinction between each individual pose makes it hard to believe they both came from one shot. The contrast in this picture is really appealing as well. The next two images are easier to imagine being done with one shot, as there is a continuation throughout the picture. I would love to play around more with light painting and different shutter speeds.

  2. I love this video! The antique-looking objects and lighting made beautiful images. As you continue to watch, you continue to be surprised. You expect a recipe, but the artist presents it in a very creative way. You don’t expect them to use their hands to get flour, let alone for them to blow it. You don’t expect the chocolate to melt before your eyes, or for the vanilla to continue spilling over the spoon. The continual creativity in the way each ingredient is presented keeps you guessing and holds your attention.

  3. It is amazing how much some of these dancers look like dolls. Some of the men in tuxes look just like a cake topper. I like that Nilsson thought outside of the box in photographing the dancers after they had finished performing. Most photographers would have wanted to take shots before the performance to get clean, crisp shots. Nilsson, however, used their sweat to create a different type of image.

  4. I love Sternfeld’s photography! The colors seem so natural, yet your eye is still drawn to them. I really like this photo in particular. The contrast of the industrial world with the natural world is really interesting. I love being in nature, and this photo shows the joy of finding it even near a big city. When I look at this photo, I feel the peace of nature, yet the comfort of knowing humanity is nearby.
