Rapid Remote Teaching Resources

If an emergency situation causes a campus closure or prevents you from coming to campus, please note that you have a variety of tools and resources to move your teaching online.  On this page, you will see the tools we have, strategies we recommend, and resources you can use.  Please scroll down to learn more.

Most of our remote teaching resources will be in Canvas and you can click on the button below to directly go to your Canvas dashboard.

ACU has a variety of tools to help you teach online. Most of these tools are integrated into Canvas for the simplicity of access. These are some of the tools you can consider:

  • Canvas conference

  • Other Canvas tools

  • Zoom

  • Screencasts

When you find yourself unable to teach in a regular face-to-face setting, consider these factors and strategies.

  • Determine your schedule
  • Communicate effectively
  • Balance synchronous and asynchronous teaching

An emergency may force you to use some tools to teach that you have never used before, and you will feel the need to teach your students how to use them.  There is no need to re-invent the wheel.  Use existing resources such as

  • Canvas tutorials

  • Canvas Commons

  • Adams Center resources

  • Online courses about online teaching

  • An instructional designer
