A&D Departmental Chapel

This Thursday, Dec 2nd, @ 11am is the final A&D Chapel of this semester. We will be meeting in the Art History Classroom (DM 141). All A&D majors are encouraged to attend, all ACU students are welcome to attend.

Artie is Back!

See this little elephant guy – you’ll need to keep an eye out for him. He’ll be hiding in a new location every day for the next 5 days. Find him and bring him to Kara in the A+D office (DM 142) to receive a prize – and might I add that the prizes are amped up this year! You never know where he might be hiding but he’ll always hide in a public space. Good luck!!

AIGA Museum Visit

The A&D chapter of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) is taking a day trip to the Old Jail Art Center in Albany, TX! (You don’t have to be a member of AIGA to participate.) It’s about 30 minutes outside of Abilene. Visit the Old Jail House Art Center – get an art event credit AND dinner!

Dinner is on us! December 4th @ 2:00 pm – Old Jail House Art Center (201 S 2nd St, Albany, TX 76430). Please fill out this form to let us know you are interested: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSduloYRLO8_hbrvbEfIF98oqyGmboYV1fiABzmw7GrL8aGMSQ/viewform

Andrews Furniture is hiring! They’re needing to fill part-time and full-time spots and even paid internships. Experience virtually and/or real – both with pay. They are willing to work with crazy A+D schedules. See the image for more details.

First-Year Students One-on-One’s

Just needing to meet with 11 more first year students! I’m sending you an email today if you haven’t yet met with me for your 1-on-1 appointment. This is a requirement of all first-year students. Be sure to schedule your appointment for this week or next to remain in good standing with the department. Click on the blue “You Can Book Me” link YouCanBookMe and it will take you to my calendar to choose a time that works with both of our schedules. Thank you to those who have already scheduled an appointment!!

Art Event Credits

Don’t forget to complete your 6 art event credits for this semester. Here’s a link to info about this requirement from our blog: https://blogs.acu.edu/artanddesign/art-event-credits/. Check out this link for those opportunities: Art Events. This document has also been shared with you directly through Google docs.

51st Annual Int’l Paperworks

See attachment included in this email for instructions and additional information.

Free ArtStation

ArtStation keeps it simple with a coupon code. Use the coupon code ACUPRO2YEARS and redeem the annual subscription here: https://www.artstation.com/subscribe/pro. The code can be used up to 300 times. The subscription lasts for 2 years and is valued at $119/year. You will need to put in a method of renewal payment for when the subscription expires. DO NOT share the code. Services like Honey (a plugin to web browsers) will attempt to share the code if you do not deactivate it or explicitly tell it to not share the code.

Snackin’ in the Lounge

We’re currently out of snacks in the student lounge. We hope to be replenishing the supply in the near future.

Printing Room

Please be sure that you are using the large format printer only for A+D projects and only if your print job can not be done on another printer in the building. A new printer has been added to the print room for all of your more traditional printing needs. The smaller printer in room 207 that keeps jamming has also been replaced. With the addition of these 2 printers, you should have better options for printing. Please send me an email or shoot me a text anytime you are having trouble with a printer so that we can keep everything in working order for you.

Blog & Student Handbook

…an answer to all of your A+D questions – a very important resource for all art majors. Click this link to go directly to the blog: acuartanddesign.com. Be sure to check out the Student Handbook under the Resources section of the blog. The link to the blog is also included in my signature in all emails that I send out. I will go over this blog in detail with all first year A+D students during our one-on-one appointments in September. (You’ll hear more about the one-on-one’s in a few weeks.)

Last but not Least…

We want you to be successful not only in your course work but in life as well. My office hours are typically 8am – 3:30pm – feel free to stop by anytime. If there’s anything we can help you with, please let us know!! Seriously!!
