Interior Design Students Win ASID Design Competion

Congratulations to Interior Design Seniors who won awards at the ASID 2012 Texas Chapter Student Symposium, held in Dallas, TX on October 5-6, 2012.  Students from collegiate interior design programs all over Texas attended the two day event. Junior Interior Design student, Gracie Ferreyro was recognized as one of the 2012 Kathy Parr Hammond Memorial Scholarship recipients and took home a $1500 scholarship.

Seniors, Nicole Dorsey and Chad Morre won First Place for their collaborative design of N. Morangie, an upscale retail store design. They each took home a trophy and a shared $250 cash prize.

AIGA Meeting-Screen Printing Tutorial

 

TONIGHT!

AIGA MEETING – SCREEN PRINTING TUTORIAL WITH NIL: Thursday, October 18th at 6pm.

We will have another AIGA meeting this Thursday at 6pm! We will be going over what AIGA will be doing this semester, how to join officially, AND we will be having a screen printing tutorial with Nil Santana! Bring a light colored blank t-shirt because we will be using black ink.

Mandatory Department Wide Meeting

There will be a madatory meeting on Monday, October 22nd at 5:00pm in the Shore Art Gallery. Please make every effort to be there. If you cannot make it for any reason please come by the art office and give your name to Kim Cooksey.

This meeting will focus primarily on advising. We will meet as a whole department for about 15 minutes and then break off into sub-groups based on discipline. Here are a few topics being discussed:

  • degree plan course sequencing (how to graduate on time)
  • departmental advising expectations
  • competitions, internships and looking for employment
  • first and second year reviews

On the topic of advising when making advising appointments with Kim please take special note of what to bring to that meeting. If you are not prepared you may be asked ot reschedule your meeting. Meeting times will fill up quick as registration approaches so make appointments soon. Also, please read over the departments expectations of you in managing your degree plan.

Again if you cannot make it to the meeting due to work schedule or some other significant reason please give your name to Kim Cooksey in the Art & Design office.

Art & Design Announcements for week of October 8th:

  • Classes are available for viewing today on Banner. If you need an ‘advising appointment’, please do not wait until the week of Registration to schedule that because appointments may not be available. Be sure prior to your appointment, you review on the blog what is required of you and what you need to bring.  Remember, your registration and your schedule are your responsibility, and we are happy to assist you.
  • Your “Advising Codes” are available. You may email Kim Cooksey (kdc12b@acu.edu) for that number.
  • Art Walk is TONIGHT, Downtown Abilene from 5:30-8pm. Come out and experience local art and get an art credit! Exhibits are open at the ACU Downtown Gallery, The Center For Contemporary Arts and The Grace Museum.
