Just wanted to recap last Thursday’s AIGA meeting for those of you that weren’t able to make it, as well as for those of you that wanted a little more information! We had a fun time discussing the design community of AIGA, answering questions and sharing our design journeys.
We talked about activities we might do throughout the semester as well as things we’ve done in the past.

Keep in mind, we ask that you be a member before going on trips with the group. I’ve gotten this question before, for the few of you wondering – You don’t have to be a graphic design major to join, although, most of us will be!

Bill Frakes Pizza Talk

This Wednesday, Bill Frakes will be giving a presentation geared towards developing and sharing a portfolio and will be guiding us through his creative process. You won’t want to miss it! Be there at 5:30 in DM141 for great conversation and free pizza.

Bill Frakes – Photographer & Filmmaker

We’re delighted to announce that this week Sports Illustrated photographer Bill Frakes will be on campus. Bill has covered major sporting events around the world in a career that has spanned profound transitions in journalism and his own work first as a photographer and now also as a filmmaker. Bill recently served as a chair for the World Press Photo contest for sports photography in 2013 that made final selections from over 100,000 entries.

Schedule:

Oct 1 (Tues), 7:00 pm – Feature Presentation in Williams Performing Arts Center

Oct 2 (Wed), 5:30 pm – Portfolio Presentation with JMC/Art majors in Don Morris 141 pizza talk. This will be targeted more toward questions about developing and sharing a portfolio and his creative process.

 A&D Departmental Chapel

Our chapel theme this semester is Encountering God. We are looking forward to hearing from Brandon Young. We will meet this Thursday, October 3rd at 11:00am in Room 141. See you there!
