Interior Design Students Tour Design Showrooms

Junior Interior Design students are creating design solutions for a Boutique Hotel in Professor Wasemiller’s Spring Studio course. ACU Interior Design Alum Bethany Lewis (’98) has been practicing Hospitality Design since graduation. This connection helped to set up personal tours for the students to seven Hospitality showrooms in the Dallas Design District during the daylong trip on February 27th. Students observed the process of designing custom carpeting to better understand the qualities, pricing and technology tools used in the creative process. Iconic surfacing and fabric product samples such as those carried by Donghia, Kravet, Maya Romanoff, and Brunswig and Fils were available for the students to take. A fabulous array of specialty plumbing systems were overviewed while touring TKO Associates, as well as, customization of grand lobby furniture from Kisabeth, which is manufactured in Ft. Worth. A prolific and exuberant artist who creates hospitality art shared insights on the creation of custom paintings for projects as large as 1000 room resorts and hotels.Junior Interior Design students at Kravet Showroom
