Weekly Announcements

Weekly Announcements for week of February 11:
  • Lost and Found: I have a few random things in my office in case you have lost something over the last few weeks.
  • Wishing Well, an ACU student-led social justice organization, is hosting an art competition open to all students to support their next clean water well project. Submissions are to be inspired by the water crisis. The subject of the show is what water looks like to you, a college student in Abilene. For example, you could portray it how you see water as an accessible resource and commodity to us or you could show the injustices you see around the world when some countries lack access to resources like water, health, and education due to the water crisis. You can look at the Wishing Well website, www.wishforwater.com, for more information about the water crisis or inspiration from one of our photographers, Esther Havens. Submissions are due on Saturday, February 23 from 9 am to noon in the Shore Art Gallery. All forms of media are acceptable. Two-Dimensional art must be framed. The show will be hung in the Center for Contemporary Arts for the months of March and April and a reception will be held on March 21. Contact Director Brandy Rains at blr09a@acu.edu with any questions.
  • Trending, a senior show, opens in the downtown gallery during Artwalk this Thursday and features the work of Asja Ležnina, Anna Pinson, David Singer, Evan Marks, Keith Jernigan and Mallory Ming. The show opens at 5pm and there will be food!
  • Art & Design Department Chapel: is Thursday February 22nd.  Please join us as we hear from Linda Egle, founder of Eternal Threads. Our theme is Faith & Justice around the corner and around the world.  Eternal Threads, based right here in Abilene, is doing amazing things to change the world.  Bring your friends and join us!
  • Positions Available:
  1. Downtown Gallery: If you are interested in sitting in the ACU Downtown Gallery on Wednesdays and Fridays from noon to 3:00, please contact Jack Maxwell by email (maxwellj@acu.edu).
  2. Figure Drawing Models: (one male and one female) needed for Figure Drawing 2 MWF 9-11. Please email Robert Green (greenr@acu.edu).
