Interior Design Majors Visit San Antonio Firms

A group fourteen of Interior design majors visited two firms in San Antonio on April 4th, along with Professor Kitty Wasemiller. Matthew Bartholomew, Intern Architect, hosted the students at Jacobs Engineering, providing an overview of the corporate and government based projects that are the primary focus of the firm. Students were able to view examples of the project specifications and drawings. A tour of the firm brought great insight into the team-based environment, operating on fast track deadlines. The interior designer at Jacobs, Melissa Hoppes, RID, IIDA, shared her experiences while working for the firm for the last 6 years. The student enjoyed lunch at the Alamo Cafe, and then continued with a tour of Marmon Mok, the lead architectural design firm for the Money Recreation Center at ACU. This firm has a broad clientele including Higher Ed, health care, school, corporate, and civic projects. This firm has receive numerous distinguished awards in recent months. In particular, the firm has been cited for their historic and long-term work in the city of San Antonio.
