New Majors Since Fall 2008, Want A Scholarship? FALL 2009 PORTFOLIO REVIEW

art_supply imageAll First Year Art and Design Majors are eligible to submit their portfolios for scholarship consideration. If you became a major after the fall semester of the last academic year and you have not submitted a portfolio previously for scholarship consideration, you are eligible. The works are due in the Art and Design Office Conference Room this Monday, September 14, by 5:00 p.m. Requirements:

  • All entries must be bound together or enclosed in a casing that is clearly identified with your contact information.
  • The number of work entered is not specified but 10 -15 should be sufficient. Keep in mind that it is often better to submit fewer works of highest quality rather than a large number of pieces that may not all be strong.
  • Work may also be submitted as slides and in electronic form, either on a CD or a flash-drive.

The portfolios will be jurored by the Art and Design faculty early next week. You should receive notification of the results of the judging later that week as well as instructions concerning the picking up of your work. Good Luck! The Art and Design Faculty

Freshmen Department of Design Majors! Are you Hungry?

D.A.D.’s DINER begins Wednesday, September 16th.  The Department of Art and Design’s Diner will occur weekly from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. each Wednesday of the fall semester. It is an invite-only, sit-around-the-table, get-to-know-you meal in the home of Jack and Jill Maxwell.

They really want this to be a relaxing time where all can talk, laugh and enjoy something delicious. The plan is to invite only 2 or 3 of you at a time, rather than a large group, so as to encourage conversation and community. There may also be a few upperclassmen invited to share their “wisdom”, or perhaps even another faculty member or two, but the dinner table only seats 8 so that’s the most that’s comin’.

So now, when you do get your “special” invitation to D.A.D.’s DINER, this week or perhaps 6-weeks from now, we hope you will take this opportunity to build some relationships with your fellow students and your professors.DAD's Diner
