Monday Sept 25th
Join other Graphic Design students in 141 from 6-8pm for an AIGA mixer. This is an important gathering to get things going for the school year. Snacks, drinks, pizza and prizes!
Thursday: Art & Design Department Chapel
Join us this Thursday at 11 in Room 141 to hear Brandon Young, professor of Architecture and Interior Design, speak on our theme Global Faith.
Friday: Senior Show Opening!
Join us this Friday for the senior show, Uncommon, hosted by Allison Davis, Ben Price & Trey Jackson. The show will open at 6:00pm. Come out and support the seniors. Earn an Art Event Credit by attending.
Instagram Competition
Our second IG competition for this semester is underway. Take a picture of your work, hashtag it #acuartanddesign.
Mandatory Meeting – 10/17 at 4:30 P.M.
Please make a note in your calendars that the mandatory department meeting will be held on Tuesday 10/17 at 4:30 in Shore Gallery. If you have Lynay or Pulse conflicts, please talk to your leaders early so they are aware and they might ask you attend a different meeting that week. If you have other potential conflicts, please schedule around this meeting. If you do not think you can be there for another reason please email me and I will run it by Mike to see if the reason qualifies to be excused. Thank you!

You don’t want to miss great food cooked by Ronnie Rama, hang out time with other Art & Design majors and getting to know faculty better. See you in the courtyard area between Shore and the Offices.

Graphic Design part-time job
The responsibilities would include setting up such items as business cards, business forms and brochures. Some will be in black and white and some may have 4 colors. The student must have their own software and computer and can work from their home. We would send jobs to them as needed. Students may email us at neil.abf@outlook.com or call us at 325-677-5980.

Monday-Tuesday: Freshmen!
If you are an incoming Freshman Art and Design major we would like to invite you to apply for one of our $500 scholarships. You may do so by dropping off a portfolio of your work at the art office between Monday, September 4th 8:30-3:00 and Tuesday, September 5th 8:30-3:00. The faculty will gather to review them on Wednesday and you may pick them up again on Thursday.
IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE:
It needs to be labelled with your name, please.
If you have an electronic portfolio, please bring a piece of paper with the web address or an envelope with the USB drive labelled with your name.
If you do not have a portfolio do not worry, this is not mandatory.
Thursday: Our first A&D chapel of the semester – 11am in 141
Join us on Thursdays in 141 at 11 this semester as students and faculty speak about the theme Global Faith. We will be exploring the idea of how our faith is shaped by cross cultural experiences both abroad and stateside. You can earn 2 Art Event credits by attending departmental chapel.
Thursday: Sophomore Meeting – 11:30 in 141
Sophomores please try your hardest to stay after chapel for this quick 10 minute meeting. Thank you.
Friday: Senior Show Opening in Shore Gallery
Come out and support Hayley Middlebrook and Sarah Arrasmith in their senior show, Kindred, in Shore Gallery on Friday at 5:30. Earn an Art Event credit by attending!

Welcome Back!
Free Art Supplies
The department received several boxes of donated art supplies. We have them on tables outside of the office in the hallway. Please feel free to come by and help yourself to what you might need. Please be considerate of other students and just take what you can actually use and make sure you leave things for others to enjoy also. Thank you!
Freshmen Portfolio Competition
Freshmen, watch your emails! Arlene will be sending out information and a call for portfolios (online or hard copies) in the next week. You are invited to submit one if you like and become eligible for a $500 scholarship. More info to follow.
