Updated Travel Policy

We have recently updated our Travel Policy to more appropriately align with our current processes and the implementation of Concur. A link to our new policy can be found at acu.edu/travel, but this document, Travel Policy Summary, highlights some important changes.

Citation Management with ZoteroBib

Avery Weems will provide a demonstration of ZoteroBib–a new web-based citation tool providing some of the functionality of Zotero without the need to install anything–and lead a discussion about the use of citation management tools. You are also welcome to bring questions about Zotero. This presentation is appropriate for beginners and long-time Zotero users alike: Thursday, Sept. 19 at 4:00-5:00pm in the Scholars Lab (Brown Library 3rd Floor Room 326.) Please RSVP.

Incoming Mail and Shipments

Incoming mail and shipments for departments and employees are processed by two different departments. Mail and shipments through the U.S. Postal Service are received by University Mail Services. It is their goal to have the mail boxed in the mailboxes about 2 p.m. or delivered on the routes that afternoon. Shipments through FedEx, UPS or freight companies are received by the Operations Warehouse. It is their goal to have shipments received by 11:30 a.m., delivered that afternoon by 5 p.m. Shipments that arrive after 11:30 a.m. will be delivered the next day. Occasionally FedEx or UPS will deliver a department package to University Mail Services, who will process it.

If you are looking for a specific piece of mail or shipment, you will need to have the tracking number to inquire about it. You may contact either or both departments to check on the status, University Mail Services at 2530 or ums@acu.edu and the Operations Warehouse at 2365 or warehouse@groupmail.acu.edu.

University-wide Meeting-Today

Please come to the university-wide meeting Monday afternoon, September 9, at 3:30 p.m. in which Dr. Schubert will be sharing some important news. Abilene faculty and staff will meet in the McCaleb Conference Center of the Hunter Welcome Center, Dallas faculty and staff will join through a video live stream in the Crown Point room. Please contact president@acu.edu, if you work remotely and need a link for the live stream.

Relief Aid – Hurricane Dorian Victims

Global Samaritan is accepting specific items to contribute to the Iris Relief aid organization for people who have been affected by Hurricane Dorian. Wildcat Central will be the drop off point this next week for Faculty, Staff and Students. Donations will be collected Monday, Sept. 9-Thursday, Sept. 12.

Items to be collected:

  • Canned goods:  meats, vegetables, fruits, beans, juices
  • Peanut butter, Dried fruits, Crackers, Cereal, Granola Bars, Trail Mix, etc.
  • Paper Products:  Toilet paper, paper towels, paper plates, paper bowls
  • Plastic forks, knives, spoons
  • Garbage Bags, storage bags (Ziploc)
  • Baby Needs:  Diapers, wipes, jarred foods, formula, bath soap
  • Hygiene Items:  Shampoo, Toothpaste, toothbrushes, bath soap, hand soap/sanitizer, deodorant, feminine products
  • Laundry soap, scrub brushes
  • First Aid Supplies:  band aids, gauze, non-latex gloves, scissors, tweezers, antibacterial/antibiotic ointments
  • Sunscreen and Bug Spray
  • Dog and Cat food in bags – no cans

Austin Channing Brown Public Talk

Austin Channing Brown will speak at 7 p.m. in Cullen auditorium tonight, Monday 9/9. She is the author of “I’m Still Here: Black Dignity in a World Made for Whiteness” and a writer, speaker, and practitioner who helps schools, non-profits, and religious organizations practice genuine inclusion. This free public lecture will feature Austin discussing her work toward racial justice and her book.

ACU Renovation & Construction Policy

Operations Renovation and Construction Policy has been approved, and is effective for all ACU renovation & construction projects. This policy applies to all university departments and facilities. The purpose of this policy is to provide for the planning, funding, approval, design and completion of renovation and construction projects on university facilities. This policy does not apply to maintenance service requests. The policy is located on the Operations web page. Please contact ext. 2665 with any questions.

Benefits Tip: Wellness Exam

Wellness Deadline: September 30, 2019

Reminder employees must complete an annual wellness exam along with 4 additional activities within the wellness program.  If your spouse in on ACU’s plan, an annual exam is the only requirement for them.

Using NVivo 12 to Analyze Qualitative Data

Service Opportunity to help Disability Resources Inc.

Staff Senate invites all staff and their families to join us at our first service project of the year at the DRI Pumpkin Patch. We’ll help Disability Resources Inc. (DRI) unload the pumpkin truck on Tuesday, October 1st and on Tuesday, October 15th (both beginning at 5pm).
