Do you know a student who exemplifies the spirit of ACU? Faculty and staff are invited to submit nominations for the Margaret L. Teague Spirit Award, an endowed scholarship that honors the memory of the wife of chancellor emeritus Dr. William J. Teague. Nominees must be undergraduates who have completed at least 58 hours at ACU, have at least a 2.5 GPA, and demonstrate an energetic commitment to the historic values of ACU, caring, serving and living out the mission of the university. Please join the ACU Library as we celebrate Elaine Huckabee and her 21 years of dedicated service to ACU.  Elaine will be retiring from ACU and we invite you to join us in honoring her on Thursday, May 14th in the Library Atrium from 3:00-4:00 p.m. with a presentation at 3:30 p.m.

The Women for ACU have begun taking applications for their scholarship to be awarded in the fall. Students must be entering junior or senior year in Fall 2015. Please encourage eligible students to apply for the scholarship. The deadline for applications is Friday, March 20.

An anonymous donor has recently established an endowment in honor of Barbara Hejl and her many years of service to ACU. The Barbara Hejl Unsung Servant Endowment will provide funds for an annual award given to an ACU employee in honor of their service to ACU and its students.  The award is voted on by the Students’ Association.  Congratulations, Barbara, and thank you for all you have done and continue to do for ACU.

Please join us as we bid farewell to Megan May, Instruction & Outreach Librarian.  Megan has accepted a position in Public Librarianship in the Seattle area.  A reception is planned for Wednesday, January 21, 3:00-4:00 p.m., in the library atrium.

Please join us on Tuesday, January 27 as we bid Anna Jane Perrey farewell. Anna Jane, Chris and George will be moving to Cordell, OK where Chris will serve as the pulpit minister for the Cordell Church of Christ. The reception will be from 3:15-4:45 p.m. in the lower Rotunda of the Onstead-Packer College of Biblical Studies building. A special presentation will be made around 3:45 p.m.

There will be a special chapel on Tuesday in Moody Coliseum to honor the memory of Colby McDaniel, ACU student who passed away over the break.

After 21 years of service, Dr. MaLesa Breeding is retiring from ACU.  Come celebrate Lesa and her accomplishments at a come-and-go Retirement Reception, Friday, Oct. 31, 2:30-3:30 p.m., Campus Center Living Room, with presentations at 2:45 p.m.

We are looking forward to honoring Dr. Everett Ferguson this year at the 2014 FACUL Summit Luncheon. Dr. Carson Reed, Assistant Professor of Practical Theology will serve as Vice President for Church Relations and Director of the Siburt Institute, reporting to the Provost. Dr. Jaime Goff, Associate Professor and Chair of Marriage and Family Studies, has been appointed Associate Dean of the Graduate School. Jay Goin (’91) has been appointed Executive Director for the Graduate School. This year Dr. Eric Gumm, Registrar, also will serve as Interim Director of General Education, working alongside Dr. Greg Straughn, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. The director/dean structure will function similarly to the department chair/dean structure. Drs. Gumm and Straughn will co-chair the University General Education Council.
